Odd experience at Regain: food was absolutely delicious and served in a beautiful garden, but service was slow and confused. The two waiters were rushing around but not really paying attention to diners: we asked to taste a red wine and the waitress never came back to us... Arrived at 8:30pm as per our reservation but after the starter was served quite quickly, we waited ages for the main. We gave up on ordering dessert. I had a highly disappointing experience with both the service and the food. The surprise menu was dull, tasteless, unappealing, and seemed randomly put together. It gave the impression that they served what didn't sell well, which was the only explanation we could come up with that night. The cheese wasn’t great, tasted funny. Food not bad; innovative, well-balanced. However we waited over 30 minutes between servings, which given the portions really ruined the experience. The servers were also very passive aggressive towards us: it was my birthday & the tall blonde woman knew this but couldn’t be bothered to still be nice when I asked to see the wine list then decided not to add the pairing.
