The Queen Victoria in the heart of the Vieux Port, Marseille, is a delightful gem of English charm amidst the vibrant French surroundings. My recent visit was fantastic from start to finish. The warm and welcoming staff made us feel right at home, with attentive and friendly service that set the perfect tone for our meal.
We ordered a croque madame and a croque monsieur with chips, and both were simply amazing! The sandwiches were perfectly prepared, with crispy bread, rich cheese, and beautifully cooked eggs. The chips were golden and crunchy, adding the perfect side to an already outstanding meal.
The drinks were just as impressive. The beer was cold and fresh, and the wine was full of flavor – not watered down like you often experience in other places. It was evident they take pride in offering quality beverages to complement the food.
Overall, the Queen Victoria offers a cozy, authentic English pub atmosphere with a touch of French flair. Whether you're after a quick bite or a place to relax with a pint, this is the place to be. I can't wait to return on my next trip to Marseille! Five stars,...
Read moreThe place looked nice and it did an English breakfast so I said I would try it, they don't actually serve until 12pm. I ordered the breakfast and asked for no mushrooms or tomato, and the waiter seemed hesitant. The food came out but it wasn't an English breakfast, the sausage was a hotdog sausage, the bacon was not nice, it was over an inch thick, mostly fat and really chewy I only ate the beans and most of the egg. The egg was not cooked properly, it was still jelly like. Bread rolls were put on the table, I said I would fill up on the rolls, but they were hard as a brick that a steak nife could barely cut through it. I didn't eat them as it would be impossible. I was so happy as the portions were big but it all went to waste. To top it all off my husband seen a rat run by our table ( rats are common, I am not saying it's because of the restaurant but it didn't really help the experience) I didn't find the staff welcoming. I would not eat here but having a...
Read moreThe audacity to call this a traditional English pub!! Nothing to do with England! People think they can stick 2 UK flags and sell diluted beers and call it an English pub!
There is NO english food it is all dirty greasy, disgusting and overpriced American food. Maybe you lot should visit England….
Don’t even bother looking in Marseille, there isn’t 1 proper English pub or restaurant.
Edit: not as bitter as you and your response. I am entitled to my opinion and my experience. I know it is hard for the egocentric French to grasp this concept.
I won’t stay home but definitely will not come back, with pleasure. Why would I even come back if I find it awful? Your comment makes no sense.
If my truth is rude that’s a you problem. + all it takes is one look at the review where people say it is greasy. Nachos, croque monsieur, salmon bowls, choucroute, etc are not British mate 😂
And I am from Britain! 🇬🇧 and racist remarks like yours will...
