Cucina Nostra — Restaurant in Montpellier

Edit: Cucina Nostra answered my review 25/9-2023 with lies. Cucina Nostra DID NOT take any actions whatsoever. They did NOT offer appetizers. They did not even offer me the drinks that i ordered. As i wrote: all our family left the food on the table as it was a disaster / also came very late - and wrong (!). We payed anyway full payment - no refund or not even an apology. At least we could have gotten that. And on the top of this they have the courage to answer our review with lies. Shame. A Culinary Catastrophe.

I had high hopes walking into this Italian restaurant. However, the evening turned out to be the most regrettable dining experience I've ever had. There are so many amazing restaurants in Montpellier, avoid this place...

First off, the service was abysmal. It felt like our table was a mere afterthought; our waitress took long time to take our order even if the restaurant just opened and we were the 3rd customer. Except for that she constantly coughed on her hands.

When it came to ordering drinks, I was told they had Guinness Dark beer. Imagine my surprise when I was served something completely different. The disconnect between the menu and what was actually available was the first red flag.

Then came the food. I ordered the Arabbiata and Truffle pasta, which sounded divine on paper. What was served, however, tasted like anything but authentic Italian pasta. The Arabbiata lacked the characteristic spicy kick, while the Truffle pasta was indistinguishable from a generic cream sauce.

We touched the food once with our forks, and that was more than enough. All the dishes remained virtually untouched, a testament to their inedibility.

To add insult to injury, despite not eating the food, we were still expected to pay the full bill. No offer of a refund, no apology, just a cold expectation of payment for a meal we couldn't...

Worst Italian dinner I have ever had. After seeing 4.5 stars and over 400 feedbacks, I was almost sure I would have eaten great Italian food. I went there with my family hoping to find some decent pasta for my son. I got a cotoletta milanese which was mediocre, pasta with Bolognese sauce where the pasta was half cooked and half still hard. I asked the waiter to have the penne more cooked and I got back a dish which was even worse than the first attempt. I also ordered penne with "homemade" pesto and mozzarella; what arrived was penne half cooked/half hard (as the Bolognese), a clear pesto from the supermarket and burrata instead of mozzarella. To summarize : Service ok, food close to inedible. Stay away if you want to eat decent...

Une expérience tellement réussite que j'ai envie de dire "parfaite".

Excellente par l'accueil chaleureux dès l'entrée avec des sourires engageant et qui donnent une superbe impression de l'établissement. Puis, de par le service de qualité malgré le monde qu'il y avait ce soir, et enfin leur générosité sans limite.

Quand je parle de générosité sans limite, c'est de la bonté qu'ils ont eu face à notre groupe d'amis de 13 convives dont l'une d'entre elle, pâtissière, nous avait fait à moi et mon amis (deux anniversaires fêtés en même temps), deux beaux gâteaux. Ils ont eu l'immense gentillesse d'être d'abord d'accord que nos gâteaux soient ramenés (ce qui n'est pas le cas de tous les établissements dans lesquels nous sommes allés jusqu'à présent), de leur faire une place dans une chambre froide et ensuite de nous gentiment donner assiettes et couverts pour les manger (compliqué de les manger à la main haha !).

En terme d'ambiance... il faut dire qu'on parlait fort, mais je n'ai pas eu l'impression que l'on gênait plus que ça, heureusement (sinon je n'aurais pas assumé d'être avec eux 🤣).

En tout cas, les serveurs et serveuses sont aux petits soins, que ce soit pour remplacer les bouteilles d'eau spontanément et autres. Et enfin, j'aimerais également préciser que l'on est également chouchouté par l'équipe qui se trouve derrière les fourneaux, les cuisiniers (car il me semble important de souligner leur travail remarquable), qui émerveillent nos papilles, du début à la fin, que vous accompagnez votre repas par un verre de vin ou par un verre d'eau.

Si vous souhaitez vivre une belle expérience à la hauteur de la générosité et de la qualité culinaire italienne, je vous annonce que vous êtes à la bonne adresse !

(P.S : Je suis navrée de ne pouvoir illustrer mes propos avec de jolies photos, mais il faut avouer que les "lasagnes au four" ont accaparé toute mon attention jusqu'à oublier de les prendre...
