An absolutely delightful museum, bound to encapsulate you in a trance of awe & wonder for hours. Every single room took my breath away. The layout is spacious, functional and alluring. I felt honored to be in the presence of such phenomenal pieces of art. I would definitely love to visit again, and highly recommend to anyone visiting Montpellier! However, I have had to refrain from leaving 5 stars for a couple of reasons. The first one being the disruptive security guards around the building. Personally, i enjoy (and expect) as much silence as possible whilst examining artworks & in general whilst being in a museum... this was not possible during my visit here. In every room, the security guards were talking (not even whispering) to each other, and in general being very distracting. It eventually became very irritating and quite unfair. Also, I quickly realized that no english translations were presented alongside any of the artworks. I can understand that, to an extent, as it’s located in the heart of a French city, but I’m sure there are plenty of English speakers who visit the museum...
Read moreHonestly don't go there with kids or any food the security would annoy and harass you very badly! Also I hated that during my last visit I got followed by 6 guards (as if I'll damage any paintings and sculptures while I was an art student). I find this museum quite empty compared to years ago there's barely any activities. The only one I saw was "Nocturne étudiante" that I participated in was made only by students and for students.
I saw a teacher once leaving quite fast the museum and being mad and irritated, and I heard also someone yell: "Culture isn't for kids". I knew right away why the teacher left with their class.
This museum would be great without any of these inconveniences but this ruins the experience for me I don't find that normal that you can't even appreciate art in peace.
Plus the lack of new paintings, sculptures, expositions. It's "mediocre" in my opinion (for a town as big as Montpellier) I personally don't recommend it, there's too much restrictions and issues...
Read moreI had an incredible experience visiting Musée Fabre in Montpellier. This museum is a true gem! The collection of art and sculptures is outstanding, showcasing both classical and contemporary pieces. The way they've curated and displayed the artworks is both informative and visually stunning.
What's even more amazing is that they offer FREE entry on the first Sunday of every month! This makes it incredibly accessible to everyone who wants to explore the world of art and culture. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offering insights into the history and significance of the pieces.
The museum's architecture and ambiance create a tranquil atmosphere that's perfect for immersing yourself in art. I highly recommend visiting Musée Fabre if you're in Montpellier, especially on the first Sunday of the month. It's a cultural treasure that's sure to leave a lasting impression. Don't miss out on this...
