l'Ecailler de Saint-Pierre — Restaurant in Montpellier

Stood around for 15 minutes waiting for a table at 12:15. No one even said hello. The restaurant was far from full and we were completely ignored. They decided to string up some lights in the middle of service... we asked for menus and were directed toward a board in front of the bar... the owner was sitting in front of it so we had to wait for him to get up to be able to read it. Good raw oysters, but full of shells. Their oysters au gratin were covered in cream and the mussels with Roquefort (not very "terroir").The servers were nice enough. All you are paying A LOT for is the view. We're locals and we're never going back. I never write negative reviews but we really felt like they were taking us...

The view was nice, but anything good ends there. The staff were not friendly and the waiter was banging glasses on the table in front of us… he told us our beers were Heineken but tasted nothing like it, I even checked the taps but there was no Heineken there. The other waitress began to shout and scream at some young boys, it didn’t spear that they did anything, but she made a scene in front of the guests and even checked through their bags (she found nothing). Personally, I would give 0 stars but I can’t… so 1 star will have to do! I would avoid this place like...

Superb. Lovely view, great food, attentive and friendly service. Perfect. We had two glasses of wine, two main courses, and shared a dessert, all for just over €60. Reservation recommended (it was busy even for a Monday). One minor thing, our white wine was not chilled very well, but the rest of our experience made up for this and so still five stars.
