My fiancé and I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while rambling around Montpellier on a trip through Europe. She speaks a bit of French but I only speak English and an embarrassingly small amount of German. Fortunately they were so kind and accommodating and we had no issues despite my lack of French having a nice romantic dinner on a Friday night.
The staff was wonderful and friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and best of all was the food. I got the T-bone steak with mushroom gravy and fries and it was a fantastic example of steak frites, you can tell the chef knows how to balance the flavors so that all of the elements shine through. The mushroom gravy worked with the meat, the fries, and even the vinaigrette on the salad. My mouth is watering just remembering it. First attendance. The restaurant wasn't full, yet the waitress insisted we wait for her colleague's confirmation to enter. Then, her colleague informed us: you can have a dinner but you are restricted from ordering any dishes from pages 2 and 3 of the menu.
Drinks. Our bottle of water was dirty with water sediment. I understand Montpellier's water isn't the best, but the water filters can easily improve the appearance of the bottles.
Main dish. The meat was excellent, but the french fries... The oil they were fried in seemed old: potatoes were "burnt".
Attendance. When we finished our meal, we waited for the staff for around 10 minutes, but nobody appeared in our hall, because the first waitress incessantly glanced at her phone while another was outside chatting...
