The Black Cat — Restaurant in Montpellier

I wanted to visit this restaurant since the first day of our stay but i was disappointed to say the least by the quality of the service. First we sat down after a small wait. Ordered 2 drinks while looking at the menu... any sensible waiter working in the business would already understand our very clear intention of dining in this establishment. We got our drinks about 10 minutes later without the waiter stoping to take our order, we then decided to wait. After about 30 minutes we practically had to wave the waiter down with literal bills of money to even be considered. Mind you multiple waiters passed us while making direct eye contact throughout the whole time. And there was no major rush, the table behind us consisting of 6 people who came and ordered after us got everything in like 10 minutes, including food. We payed for the 2 two drinks then went back to the apartment because it was about 9 pm and we were far too angry and tired to even consider finding a different place. I'm writing this while eating instant noodles still a bit angry but mostly amused now considering this has never happened to me at this scale in my home country. I don't know what had been the problem. Whether it was us being tourists and not speaking french or that they just forgot about us. I don't really care at this point just wanted to share an experience that could potentially help someone decide if they want to visit...

Le service était correct et les tapas généreux. Toutefois l'addition à la fin dépassait très largement ce que nous avons réellement consommé et présentait des items que nous n'avons pas commandé. C'est la deuxième fois que ça m'arrive, et cela n'arrive pas qu'à moi selon mes amis. Soit il y a un gros soucis dans leur suivi par table soit il s'agit d'intention malhonnête.

The service was ok and the appetizers generous. However the bill we got was much higher than what we ordered and even contained items we haven't ordered. Je constate sans étonnement que mon avis va rejoindre d'autres avis antérieurs ! Grosse mésaventure ce soir, un établissement que l'on fréquenté régulièrement mais qui perds son charme avec l'état du serveur "manager" . Une addition qui ne correspond pas aux consommations, et une altercation qui s'en suit parce que ce dernier dans un état d'ébriété certain ne souhaite pas nous rembourser . Choquée au delà du manque de professionnalisme, par sa malhonneté tout simplement . Maigre consolation donc de ne pouvoir que laisser un avis après s'être fait avoir ! Je ne recommande pas cet établissement pourtant bien situé et plein de charme, mais si vous êtes en quête d'un lieu bienveillant, passez votre chemin, que...
