Abaca — Restaurant in Montreuil-sur-Mer

I discovered this café last year and thought to myself that I must return, so I made the long journey back. Aside from the drink I ordered, I was touched to be served refreshing iced water with fruit such as melon. The freshly blended juice, the latte with an incredibly rich foam unlike anywhere else, the wonderfully flavoured cappuccino, and the white chocolate, banana, and pistachio were all truly delightful – a perfect start to the morning that gave me such positive energy. The locals here speak very highly of this place, and I felt rather pleased with myself for having found it. To take a little of this good energy back to London, I bought a small plant. Last year they had a large cactus, which I had hoped to buy again, but sadly only smaller plants were available this time. Not possible to pay with a card.(we are in 2025 come on...) worst is that No one told that before order and you need to run for an ATM 10 min walking to be able to pay....

The menus are supposed to be "ecological"... but honestly... I think this is too much. The ice latte, on the other hand, was super good, other drinks are not exceptional.... typical place where they think they are selling you "the experience" and it is just another "bobo" parisian normal place with cheap tables they call...

Le salon de thé Abaca, au Touquet-Paris-Plage, est une très jolie surprise, découverte au début de l’été dernier avec mon conjoint et mes beaux-parents. Nous nous sommes installés en terrasse, dans des chiliennes en plein soleil, pour déguster un thé glacé maison et un gâteau à l’orange d’inspiration grecque.

Et là… coup de cœur absolu. Moi qui d’habitude ne raffole pas des desserts à l’orange, je me suis retrouvée à savourer chaque bouchée. Un an plus tard, j’en ai encore le goût en mémoire. La texture était incroyablement douce, le parfum délicat, et cette touche méditerranéenne change agréablement des sempiternels shortbreads et autres scones.

L’ambiance est elle aussi un vrai bonheur : décor épuré, esprit bord de mer, un petit air du sud de l’Europe qui donne envie de prolonger l’après-midi. L’accueil était simple et souriant, parfait pour se sentir bienvenu sans chichi.

En résumé : une adresse à retenir, une parenthèse pleine de douceur que je recommande vivement. Et surtout, j’y retournerai...
