We were staying at the hotel which is in the same building and the restaurant was recommended to us by the staff, for which we are very grateful. We were lucky to have a reserved table because when we entered the restaurant we were surprised to find that it was full on a Monday evening. We were seated at a table near the bar and were lucky to watch the delicious dishes being prepared as there is an open kitchen. The food was extremely tasty, prepared with desire, decorated with style. I liked that there are several dishes for vegans and I don't have to have dinner only with salad or potatoes. The menu offers a wide variety of wines. The staff is very kind, and even though we don't speak French we managed to understand each other :).

The best meal of the year, the stuffed pigeon in foie gras baked as a tourte feuilletée, was an explosion of senses. The service is so friendly, professional, and leads you to the greatest . A place to be for the pigeon ( only 9 portions per year), and the chef recommended us to try next time the lièvre à la royale. For the wine, the choice is so various and we tried a beautiful Pinot noir from Alsace .finally ….I recommend you to come early and to enjoy a crémant rosé with deer saucisson …and to enjoy this in the leather armchairs .

After a great week in Germany, this restaurant was a great place to end our holiday before flying back to the UK the next day... Being in France, we couldn't resist going into a proper French restaurant and enjoy the food - yes expensive but quality of food worth the price and the staff were very patient, considering we could not speak French at all. If you're in Saint Louis, I 100% recommend this place!

I find it hilarious that a person who is cancelling a business dinner for a party of 10, literally hours before, has the audacity to discuss care, careful or reliability.

Cancelling a business reservation in December with less than 5 hours before the start time is the very definition of unreliable and careless. The Back Story: December 8 - reservation made December 12 - reservation confirmed by restaurant December 19 - restaurant requests final number of guests December 19 - sent final guest count December 20 - cancelled

The "manager" cancelled our business dinner party reservation hours before our meal, which he personally had confirmed the week prior. The Manager then sent a note that we had only told him the number of attendees and not the specific menu and wrote, "we prefer to keep the reservations for more careful people." However, the last time we were there, which was just a few weeks back we didn't have this problem and we were presented with two meal course options and nobody was forced to preselect the meal for everyone in our party AND it wasn't completely clear that the only option was prix fixe.

Quite an unfortunate turn of events because we go there fairly often and it is a nice little restaurant with lovely service people, decent food and a great...

Very disappointing, not a place for Birthdays! We booked a table for 8 Persons and two of us had their Birthday. The booking was done 4 weeks in advance and confirmed twice by email and by telephone to make sure all is fine and ready for the table in the Bistrot La Cave. Upon arrival from Switzerland the management placed us in the next door Hotel lobby hallway and not as confirmed in the nice restaurant part (with a constant draft and definitely not a place for tables). This hallway is not the place you want to eat. We noticed the management gave our original booked table to a local and therefore kicked us out in the hallway. This is not acceptable especially the rude answer and no problem solving efforts at all of the person in charge. Your restaurant may serve good food, but you should learn something about how to treat your guests. We left without eating and never...
