Ò Bành Mí — Restaurant in Nîmes

This spot is pretty popular in Nîmes, so it fills up fast—especially in the evenings. If you’re planning to go then, definitely make a reservation! I went around lunchtime and waited about 20 minutes for a table. Only table outside. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the wait easier.

For starters, I had the nems—really tasty, and my boyfriend enjoyed them too. For our mains, we both had Pad Thai: I chose beef, he went with chicken. He actually preferred the beef, and I have to agree—it was the better pick. Overall, the dish was decent, though I personally found it a bit bland and wished it had more flavor.

Still, it’s a solid Asian spot to check out if you’re in Nîmes and craving...

Friendly staff and very helpful with different circumstances. They were very busy and booked out so if you miss the early period, come back at 1:30pm and there should be room if you can wait…great location for a lunch or dinner. Seatings are outside and it does have a WC (small BTW). We had a good experience but the food wasn’t at the level I would have thought for Asian cuisine. I do hope it can get better as I would like to visit this...

C’est un bon petit restaurant vietnamien / thaïlandais dans le centre piéton de Nîmes. L’endroit est une bonne adresse, mais j’ai quand même quelques griefs. Le fait que l’on ne puisse que manger en extérieur, c’est sympa lorsqu’il fait beau. Mais un soir où il fait froid et où il y a du mistral, l’expérience est beaucoup moins agréable. Ce qui m’amène à ma première déception,… l’absence de potage (pour se réchauffer) à la carte. Plus surprenant, alors que le restaurant s’appelle Ò Banh Mí, ils ne servent pas de Banh Mi le soir !

Ensuite, concernant les plats servis: Les nems au porc sont corrects, mais rien de fou. Et la dose de menthe servie pour accompagner était clairement insuffisante à mon goût. Le bo bun nems et bœuf manque de légumes et d’herbes aromatiques. Les Pad Thaï crevettes sont bons et bien réalisés. Par contre, l’absence de coriandre est vraiment regrettable. Et dans le même ordre d’idées, mettre du citron jaune à la place du citron vert, c’est très moyen.

Mis à part les points soulevés, l’accueil et le service sont plutôt bons. Et je n’hésiterai pas à revenir tester leurs Banh Mi lorsque je repasserai...
