We had a fantastic evening in Restaurant Vatel. The food and service were of the highest order. We knew that this restaurant was attached to a training school but what we didn’t realise was that the future heroes of French cooking were here. An amazing evening from when we walked in the door till we left. The people were all amazing but may I mention 2,Guillaume and Nicole - they were superb. From start to finish they could not do enough for us including getting us a taxi on a very busy night in Nantes with Ireland playing Tonga in rugby. Our French was not good but Guillaume and Nicole(or Nicola?) were so kind and helped us on the menu and wine list with their very good English. I have eaten in many good places but I don’t think myself and my friends have had such fun, great food, great service and such a friendly evening in years. The bill at the end of the evening was a very pleasant surprise - about half the price of what we would pay in ireland for a comparable quality meal. Well done to all the students and their teachers. The future cuisine in France is safe!
