I'm giving it a 3 star because the Waitresses were nice and the food was delicious. But I got the rudest welcome ever from the man with the glasses.I took a table no one paid attention to me,so I went inside to enquire about the menu, I started to tell my order to the Guy with glasses that's when I got the rudest answer he said:" Vous prenez une table et vous attendez que quelqu'un Vienne vous servir parce que il y a des gens qui sont venus avant vous qui attendent " so I gestured that I'm already on a table and no one paid attention to me.. again he was rude about informing that I have to change to a smaller table" Déjà pour commencer, vous prenez une table à deux " ..As a former restaurant worker, I get it that sometimes it is hectic and busy but this is an unacceptable way to talk to a customer.. disappointing and unwelcoming

Update to the business response: I'm surprised by your words"the way that I behaved" tell me how I behaved? I was still polite to your staff despite him being rude to me in front of your other customers, I could have answered back in the same tone he talked to me but I kindly told him I didn't know how things works around here.. (The last thing I want is to give a hard time to a staff)..since after I came inside to inquire about your menu no one asked me for how many people I needed a table for or where was I seated?( That should have been your first response if things work like you are saying)I've been to Nice several times (it's my 7th visit)and to other regions of France..every restaurant has a different operating/ordering system (not every restaurants works like you are saying) .. Anyways, I'm not the only one complaining about the bad customer service..On top of that it wasn't even Rush hour When I came.. lots of empty tables..45 minutes after your 5pm opening..Thanks for the...

Wow wow wow this place is amazing

I first got recomended this restaurant by a tour-guide when I asked for places that made genuinely good local food.

So I went there, got seated. The server noticed that I struggled with french so he switched to english. I said I wanted to practice my French so he not only switched back but even helped me with some words.

The first time I was here i ordered the following:

Tartinades (Tapenades Verte & Noire) Socca anchois With a aperol spritz as a drink And for desert a lemon marangue pie with a glass of niçois rum as a digestif.

This meal was so good, and the staff so nice that despite me saying that I try a new place each night I during my stay, went here twice.

So I went again and the meal was just as if not more terrific.

This time, and what I'll be showing photos of, I ordered:

Tartinades (Thoïonade - Anchoïade) Pissaladière Socca anchois (because i couldn't get enough of it) And a Panaché to drink

And for desert I had: Tourte de Blettes And glass of niçois rum as a digestif

All of the flavors work so well together, the food was obviously made to order and was super fresh, and the best part is that it really wasn't expensive for what you got.

and the staff (once again) was super kind and even remembered me:P

When I come back here, I'll visit Chez pipo. When my friends say that they're going to nice, I'll recomend them Chez pipo.

I love this Chez pipo🫶🫶

Edit: i unknowingly went a third time because I went on a food tour:) Not complaining, I couldn't have wished for a better end to my trip to nice. Au revoir and see you lovely people...

P.s. Your reply is realy great - it shows exactly the arrogant attitude your staff presents with clients. In your reply you even manage to offend me with 'ego' statments rather than looking in your unplesant service. Clarification - many tables were emply (not full as you state) and we just prefered you sit in the sun (normal preference). Your staff kicked us out from the tables My kids are 11 and 13 years, so really i do not expect any special family treatment as you claim. Just a basic human touch and culture. But reading the comment you make as 'owner' no more comments really...

My ealier comment to which you replied below.

Very arogant sevice - avoid if you can. Not friendly with kids and for families. We went there as family of 4 and wanted to sit at the terasse in the sun. There were many empty tables. The arogant waiter told us we cannot sit there as tables for 4 people are at the back in the shadow.. I asked what was the problem if we sit at 2 x 2 in the sun. She called for a 'manager' that was even more agressive. Told us to move and refused to serve us as she wanted to oblige us to sit in the shadow. She told us that " due to you i would loose 2 tables'....! So told her ok, you are loosing 4 guests if you wish. I really hope that the owner of this resto is reading the reviews and could fire these 2 arogant ladies as they definitely should not work in customer service with this attitude....we went to resto at another corner and the service was simply nice. So better...

Chez Pippo is fantastic. The best socca in Nice. It’s super crispy unlike the soggy ones you get at other places in the city. They sell soccas with garnishes as well. Truly this place makes an excellent socca. And their service was fantastic as Well. I needed to be at the train station. While they had many other customers they were kind enough to offer to serve me faster. Oh and they did serve me pretty quickly. The soocca was hot crispy and fresh. Wow. All I got through out the service was SMILES. Now that’s a great service. This place is a happy place !!

We literally ate here 3 evenings od our 1 week Nice stay. Socca was the best thing I ate during our stay and this is the oldest and best place to eat it. I liked the original one but parmesan and red pepper one was also great. There is always a queue in front to be seated but we never waited more than 15 mins. The lady to show us our places is very kind and friendly. The prices of the dishes are low comparing it to other restaurants in Nice. You won’t be disappointed to try, fully recommended.
