We had some curries here. Nice chunks, good amount of sauce. Rice costs extra although the pricing is rather high to start with. This restaurant prides itself in that the curries are tweaked for local taste, ie without any significant heat (pungency) but indicates that heat can be had upon request. I therefore politely requested "pimenté", with chili pepper. When the dishes arrived, that waiter told me the cook hadn't added any chili pepper, so he gave me chili oil to add to the dish. This was disappointing in that the heat wasn't part of the dish but added on top. At almost $30 for a chicken curry, I have to admit that I was a little underwhelmed. Furthermore, while beautifully plated, the dish wasn't up to what I have experienced elsewhere. I have eaten this exact dish (a British curry called Tikka masala) for 3 decades, in various countries (UK, USA, Singapore, etc) and it's usually a lot creamier. Perhaps they tweaked the dish to the French taste by removing the cream as well, as I honestly couldn't taste any. The dish was more sour than it should be, in addition to being a little bland. The drink selection is rather small, but the prices are on the high side. I suppose this establishment is best suited for...
Read moreVery disappointed with the food. This is the first time I’ve had Chicken Tikka Masala with such a poor texture—it doesn’t even deserve to be called a curry.
Follow-up message to the reply: Your response to my review is extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Allow me to address your accusations directly: Comparing the menu card with the menu outside was simply because I was confused about the set options. That is normal customer behavior, and it is absurd that you would criticise me for it. I never mentioned anything about the chicken not being fresh. My review was about the curry texture, which was far from what a Chicken Tikka Masala should be. I have had authentic Indian curries many times, and your dish simply did not meet that standard. The food is overpriced for the quality offered. I already do not intend to come back, so your “request” for me not to return is unnecessary. What is more concerning is the way you have chosen to attack me personally rather than address the actual feedback.
As a paying customer, I am entitled to share an honest opinion about the food. Instead of insulting or dismissing criticism, perhaps you should focus on improving your dishes and your attitude...
Read moreI’ve read other reviews and I do wonder how can it all be 5*? French people know about food and enjoy a bit of quality. That makes me wonder, do French people know about the Indian kitchen? 🤔 If this is the best Indian food in Nice, omg then quality is not great. Let’s start:
Grilled marinated chicken to start, tasty but also very very salty …
Lamb balls dish for main; very simple. Throw the balls in a sauce and that’s it. The presentation isn’t looking great.
Flat bread was good 👍🏼
Chicken tikka masala - ohhh this is not good. It’s like a box of (sometimes fatty) chicken pieces from the supermarket thrown in some tomato sauce. It’s like spaghetti sauce, no Indian flavors to be found. The colour is wrong too, very red (should be more brownish). No vegetables used in the dish either so again quite a boring presentation.
The rice - undercooked and hard. Come on guys; it’s not that difficult to cook rice to perfection.
On the drink menu no Indian drink such as mango lassi, fruit- or milk shakes. All drinks are from cans or bottles pre-manufactured. A good Indian restaurant must be better on this!
Aside from all above, staff is friendly and always...
