Le Grand Large — Restaurant in Nice

I’ve had the honor of visiting this place when it was owned by the pervious owner as well as a new one, and I can’t describe my joy seeing how much the restaurant has improved. It’s almost like everything has changed for better: the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, I can say it’s one of the few restaurants where I can really relax. The service is next level, all the staff is friendly and attentive and you can really tell just how strong and family-like the team is. Ever since the chef has changed, the food became just so much better. All the dishes I’ve tried were simply delicious, well plated and served with love. The new menu, while being concise, provides so much variety flavor-wise. The meat was cooked just right and you can really taste the high quality on the product it self as well as excellent execution. My husband tried their “plat du jour” which was salmon with an incredible sauce. So simple yet so delicious. While previously the fish was frozen, now it’s fresh and you can really taste the difference. Scam restaurant, rude waiter. Highly unrecommended Their menu has an unusual way of showing the price. The usual way is: A 20 euro B 25 euro C 22 euro

On one page, the menu is like A 20 euro B 25 euro C 22 euro Accompany your meal with a side dish a b c Add an extra side dish, 5 euro

This made me think the first side dish was complimentary. But then I wanted to pay the bill, and they finally told me the first one was 5 euro.

THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM

They can choose a more straightforward way, like: Accompany your meal with a side dish a 5 euro b 5 euro c. 5 euro

OR

Accompany your meal with a side dish, each 5 euro a b c

But they were not. They use unusual pricing methods to attract customers who order side dishes without knowing the price.

When I disagree with the bill, they rudely repeat that I must pay regardless of their misleading menu. They do not know that customers have the right to know the price.

Finally, I paid their scam bill. And they deserve this...

Really disappointing experience. First, my drink arrived with a spider swimming in it. When I alerted the waitress, she proceeded to fish it out with a spoon (after many attempts), and said that it couldn't be changed for a new one. This left a spider's legs behind in the drink. Then the food arrived, we ordered the trio of fish and it was the worst fish we've eaten in a restaurant. Both the swordfish and salmon were dry and solid, not the flakey moist fish you expect at a seaside restaurant, and the calamari was the chewiest I've ever encountered. The accompanying vegetables were also not appetising. On the plus side, despite the spider, my Aperol spritz was well made and the view was lovely. Definitely not worth the...
