L’ONDA — Restaurant in Nice

I have never had such bad food and such bad service. We had been traveling by car for 14 hours and wanted to enjoy the evening. We had a cold lasagna (lukewarm on the outside and then cold on the inside, my friend tried it too... we weren't sure if they weren't just warming it up?), which was warmed up after a friendly hint, was unkindly pulled away from me, so that half of it was burnt and put back down. When I pointed out that it simply didn't taste good and that we didn't want to pay for it (I didn't finish it), they got upset and laughed at us. Suddenly we were only spoken to in French, even though we had spoken English before.

There was no apology and no effort to make amends. The birds also picked the leftovers off the plate.

Please avoid this restaurant. We almost missed the start of...

We got a table quickly and the service was alright. But we got our pizzas before we got the drinks we ordered. I got the Diavola pizza and it was fine. The sauce was nothing special, the dough passable, the meat was pretty good. But dear lord there was an insane amount of cheese on it, enough for 3 pizzaes. When I told the waiter he said that the regular chef was not in and they usually make thicker pizzaes so then the amount of cheese would be alright. But I’m pretty sure it would still be too much. My friend got a Parma pizza with the same amount of cheese and an ridiculous amount of topping on it, quite uneatable. We asked for a discount but it was impossible apparently. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to go here, they don’t seem so interested in customer service or if their food...

The staff was very friendly and helpful, made us feel welcome. The food on the other hand wasn’t up to par. The salmon dish we ordered came with rice as a side dish. The rice was cold, dry and burnt and it felt like it was made days ago and was quickly microwaved. We told our waiter that the rice was not acceptable and we would like something else as a side dish. She brought a plate of fries for us each, on the house of course. These fries were drenched in oil and were severly undercooked.

Overall friendly, helpful waiters, beatiful view of the sea but the chef should be looking for...
