Le Shalimar — Restaurant in Nice

Overpriced pathetic food. Who will serve turty fruity jelly in kasmiri rice. Worst food and welcoming was really bad only because we were Indian.

The waiter told the owner that he welcomed me because I speak French. At the end of my meal waiter came and asked for welcome drink which was supposed to be served in starting. 55 euros just for Kashmiri rice, palak panner and some pathetic vegetable khurma with 2 nan, 1 coke and 1 bear. We did not see any vegetables in curry expect 2 pieces of carrot and 1 piece of capsicum. In palak paneer instead of panner they added tofu and some cream along with palak. I don’t care about price but the quality of food really matters. I felt it’s just looting people and nothing tasted like Indian.

Rude and racist. No greetings upon entering the restaurant, no water and menus offered for 20 minutes. Finally when we asked a staff to take our order, a staff member with big moustaches (don't know if he's the owner) attended me and when I ordered for a dal tadka, he said a tadka wasn't possible because the French don't like it. When I requested if he could do a basic tadka of clarified butter and cumin seeds, his comment was "oh indians, not possible!"and walked off. When I asked him if he could take the rest of the order he turned his back, I felt humiliated and said we'd like to leave. He then said "no problem". When we left, the kitchen was open at the back and a staff member peeped out to know what happened upon which the same guy came over and slammed the door on my face. Deeply hurt...

I wish i could give them negative rating. We walked in hoping to get some chai and order food after that. Since we were walking back to our hotel after a long day, we had a few water bottles with us. They dint have chai on their menu, so we verbally asked if they have chai. The waiter asked if we also want to order food. We said ya we may, after having the chai. This waiter then asked the owner saying” they are here for chai”. The owner bluntly replied “no we dont serve chai without food”. I mean really! Is this how the restaurant should treat their customers! Shameful behavior. And the fake pride that they had was aweful.
