Oh LaLa Café — Restaurant in Nice

I live nearby and went twice already - the first time I got a sandwich, which was nice The coffee is very good as well and they have nice lemonades The staff was okay, they seem like they don't care whether you're there or not, but that's alright if you order to go.

Today a friend visited and wanted a quick coffee to go. I remembered that the coffee was good and I checked on Google if this place was still open (it was 5.30 when we arrived, google said it's open until 6) - so we went in just to be stopped by a very unfriendly man who said they are closed. I didn't understand right away and asked (in French) if they are closed or just in the process of closing because we just wanted a coffee to go. He didn't really respond to that, but gave us a clear and unfriendly: "bonne soirée" and closed the door. Please update your opening hours or just clarify with confused customers in a more nice way. You know the coffee is good when the people don't really care. French are funny. Coffee machine is good. I think this is a proper cafe. I haven't tasted many places in France that know how to make basic coffee with milk but this was fine. Like most French they lack basic manners but who cares , money is the only thing that talks. If you look at the reviews below you can tell these people can't read basic English(the cafe people), but listen this isn't the hub of anywhere so taper your expectations use your wallet and ask for what you want and go easy, understand the cultural difference, that's kind of why Europe has been behind for a while but what the hell do I care, I'm on vacation and don't pay any attention to the French , just do...

3.3 out of possible 5. Menus are in the French language (only). Seats are uncomfortable. Coffee is nice, however it was brought without water. The waitress is polite, however you order coffee from the bar, and then you're served. Very weird 🤔 that there's a pair of old sneakers hanging above the entrance door. I understand that it's some artistic expression or whatever, but I really felt uncomfortable looking at a hanging pair of old basketball sneakers while having a coffee. Overall the best thing about it was the name which initially attracted us. I actually expected an authentic french experience rather than a hipster...
