Food: Pizza - the mouth watering ‘Bufala’ pizza was better than anything I’ve had in Italy. The mozzarella & tomato sugo had clearly been kissed & caressed by the chef himself, can’t stop thinking about it… Risotto - blueberry & red wine. Not ingredients you find in any old risotto. The sweetness of the blueberries, richness of the cheese, all infused and molded together by the red wine, was a highlight during our stay in Nice! Leave time for some Rosé/starters as this one takes 30 mins to prepare. Everything on the menu is also made in house. I had to blink twice because we weren’t in Italy!
People: Owner was charming & gave us a wonderful backstory to the risotto (mentioned below). The homey vibe really put us in a great place to enjoy the meal - the sweltering heat was an afterthought.
Place: Located just outside Old Nice, access here isn’t an issue. Plenty of transport nearby and a brisk walk away from the centre of the city. If you want to escape the tourist rush, come here! Only negative, not too many options for those who are gluten-free/vegan (Risotto and/or salad is your best bet).
As the previous Head chef @ Dolce e Gabbana, the owner/chef indulged us in the story behind the risotto. In charge of catering for a football event for teams in Italy (Inter Milan, AC, Roma, etc), the owner wanted to shake things up. Normally, they have chicken soup with French fries at this event. The owner instead opted for something left of field. The aforementioned risotto was what he concocted, a talking point for the event and a clear winner on our trip. Puro, like this risotto, is unique, must visit dining when in...
Read moreMy mouth was knocked out by the amazingly prepared pasta which was made in their kitchen. The staff is international. The waiter was from Venezuela and the chef was from Italy. They are counting guests from outher countries. It is unbelievable that we were treated so nicely. The wine was chosen by the waiter which is very skilled and passionate of his job. The pasta made from scratch was delicious and I think that this was the best pasta ever. First, carbonara which I ate at the first day I was there. It was amazing. Guanciale was fried to perfection and the yolk sauce was having an amazing consistence. I truly believe that Jimi was better and I recommend it to everyone. I highly recommend to take a reservation as you can wait half an hour without one. The inside is decorated with wine bottles everywhere and a beautiful painting of Spritz. Can you believe they have two refrigerators filled with wine?! I also shall mention the tiramisu which was the best one I ever tried (by that I mean stole some from my mom when she wasn’t looking). I also recommend trying any other dessert as there is a 100% chance it will be amazing.
Psssstt… they have a dessert of the week…
I couldn’t make any photos because everyone started eating just when the food came and there was no time. We were too hungry. Btw, there is a board with the amount of people from every country that came there.
Congratulations on creating something so beautiful. I will always remember...
