Restaurant Le Saëtone — Restaurant in Nice

The evening of May 5 my daughter and son-in-law arrived in Nice after a long flight from Seattle. They were hungry and exhausted. We went to the Italian restaurant around the corner, the Restaurant Le Saëtone, about 8:30PM. After being seated outside on the sidewalk, we ordered our drinks. When it came time to order our pizza, we wanted to share two pizzas, but were told we have to order four, one per person, that this is the way it's done in France. We argued with the waiter, who speaks English, and is the son of the elderly owner. He finally agreed to let me and my wife share one, since we are elderly ourselves. So, we ordered three different pizzas. When the order came we had two of pizza one, one of pizza two, and no pizza three, which my son-in-law wanted. So we made do. When it was time to pay, the owner's son refused to make eye contact. By now it's ten PM with a cold wind off the Med. But I finally got his attention and he brought us the bill, but didn't bring along the credit card machine. So again I'm trying to get his attention, but he hides inside. Is he punishing us? My son-in-law, who's about 6'2" and 220lbs, blew his top. He stormed into the restaurant and waved his credit card under the elderly owner's nose and demanded in his very loud voice in English to pay. The owner, shocked, obviously understood what he wanted and let him pay. For myself, back in France for the first time in many years, this reminded me of my previous experiences with rude French waitstaff. In compensation, we were just in a beautiful Italian restaurant, Cavallo, next to the Hotel de Ville in Lyon. The owner and staff were charming. And guess what? They had no problem letting us...

We had a truly wonderful time at the restaurant. We arrived early in the evening, so the place was quiet and peaceful, which made for a relaxing atmosphere. The vibes were very nice and perfect for an intimate dinner. The service was excellent. The staff was attentive and thoughtful, likely because it was the start of the dinner rush, but their professionalism and care really stood out. They made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout the evening.I was there with my wife, and it was such a lovely night together. The food was fantastic. We especially liked the duck paired with rice, which was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The swordfish was also very good, and we tried some dishes recommended on today's menu, which were equally impressive. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we’re looking forward to coming back again soon....

I have found this place in Google Maps when I was in Nice, once I found the restaurant I checked for the ratings in the app and told my family to go there and eat.

The second I came into the restaurant, I’ve realized that those ratings are stand for a reason.

If you are in Nice you definitely should come here and eat pretty much anything without any concern. We came here with 6 and ordered different foods to taste and to share.

Pizza, Beef, Seafood Pasta and more, believe me everything was perfectly fine and I felt like I’m in a fine dining restaurant.

Atmosphere in the restaurant is quite friendly and heartwarming. Staff and owner is happy to serve and smiley.
