Very friendly staff with local flare and gastronomy.
I will say, I would consider this “higher-end dining” prices back in the US but… the food was fresh, local, and there was a lot of love put in it.
The staff was incredibly friendly; translated the menu for us and made excellent recommendations. The place was cute and had a bistro feel to it.
We had the steamed clams appetizer with their amazing fresh bread (and a small complimentary tuna mousse starter).
For our main course, I had the local fish dish with the uru (breadfruit) gnocchi, which was very good and unique. My SO had the shrimp in a coconut cream sauce with diced taro, which was very good also!
To drink- I had a local beer and my SO stuck with a soft drink and bottle of water for the table. (Roughly $8, $4, $7 respectively)
We were too full for dessert, unfortunately.
Very lovely meal and experience! We hear the chef primarily uses cooking techniques handed down from his grandparents and we love supporting small local business.
Reservations recommended as it is a smaller place but highly encourage dining here if staying near Papeete and looking for local...
Read moreIs a restaurant the chef forgot to try the dishes, we tried little bit of everything, the mussels you do not need to do too much to have amazing taste, but those looks that they put them in a second bath of water and is not flavor in them more than a potato and son little spices. The foie gras is a big pice of liver but cook that is not having any complementation with the miso soup, is like the person didn’t know how to cook it and let it there floting in the water. The appetizer i had with fish was so watery and oily that is was not good in mouth, with the terrible flavor of the dishwater soap in the onions, i cut a lot of onions in my life in the professional kitchen and the flavor of soap is never good. The risotto without rice, was a insulting name of a risotto with the but feeling of nor available to finish that dish because any of the flavors complement together and i got sick for the food. Sorry chef test the food is not good. A big...
Read moreWe spent 2 days in Papeete after a trip to Bora Bora. The receptionist at the hotel spa recommended this spot to us for some great eats. Everything was excellent. The menu is just written on a blackboard and seems to change frequently. The waiter translated from the French menu (with Tahitian mixed in) for us as my high school French knew canard was duck but did not know “sea urchin”. My boyfriend is vegetarian and the only option on the menu was a starter (tomato salad). The restaurant accommodated and made a wonderful vegetable based dish. This restaurant was worth venturing out for and getting away from the bland resort food. If they have fried shrimp when you go, do not think...
