Firstly the food is really great. We had the ravioli and the pork shoulder. They were both delicious. The chef clearly knows what he's doing.
The place itself is situated in a quiet corner just off a main road and consists of lots of outdoor seating together with a comfortable-looking inside.
Unfortunately, there are two things to complain about.
The tables are pretty close together and, outside at least, smoking is allowed. A couple sat down next to us and chain smoked for 40 mins before we decided we'd had enough and we left before having a coffee.
Why would an upmarket (or any) restaurant allow smoking on its premises when this kind of thing can happen and spoil the occasion for ALL the other customers? It spoilt the evening for us and we saw others looking for the source of the smoke, clearly unhappy about it.
Service is included but when we were presented with the bill the waiter insisted it wasn't. 'Not in France' he answered when I questioned him about it (because I had seen 'service compris' on the menu). He spoke good English. There was no confusion here. He conned us. So, I left a small tip (5 euros) because I was certain that service WAS included but the waiter made me feel bad about leaving none.
What a disappointing end to...
Read moreThe experience, whether French or not, is very comfortable and inviting. The service is very kind, helpful and quick to ensure delicious baguette is kept full at the table! The food is prepared in less than 15 min and you have plenty of time to eat slowly and savor. The outdoor and indoor dining spaces are both lovely for conversation with smaller groups of people. While the cuisine was not the greatest I’ve had, it still leaves you with a sense of adventure. The food is fresh and can be an inventive way to eat what you thought you knew. We ordered off the prix fixed menu and it was very enjoyable. Notable foods are definitely the vegetarian pasta and the pistachio panacotta! Make room for dessert, specifically...
Read moreA small restaurant, but the chairs are very uncomfortable, and there's a basement dining area that doesn't feel inviting... The dishes were okay, but the portions were too small. We ordered wine by the glass, and the servings were very stingy—so small, it felt like they were serving Pétrus! The heating is also very weak; it was cold, no more than 17°C, so don’t expect to wear a nice dress... Overall, there’s a real lack of generosity, and for this price range, it just doesn’t feel worth it. I wouldn’t recommend it at all for dinner, but maybe for lunch! The €20 set menu seems much more in line with the...
