Godaille — Restaurant in Paris

Godaille is a vibrant small place on a quiet square with excellent food. The menu is small which is wonderful. We were a group of five and we tried each of the appetizers and one was better than another. Perhaps the crispy rice was a particular standout but they were all excellent. For my plate, I chose the scallops which were fresh and delicious. Others had the lamb which they enjoyed. My only disappointment is that it’s an all natural wine list—which I know for many is a selling point rather than a negative. I think it’s wonderful to promote all natural wines but why not let the customer choose. Wine is very important to me and when I open an all natural wine list, I am unfamiliar with every label. Delicious, well cooked food but the service is mediocre, which is a bummer. Very long wait time for food too. Also, my friend from the U.S. called in to the restaurant to gift me a bottle for my dinner since it was my birthday, but the restaurant never communicated that to me. So the surprise was a little spoiled because of the misunderstanding. What happened was, the server just came to my table and showed me a bottle and poured us a tasting and I said no thanks. We were looking forward to eating at Godaille. The place was very attractive and the personnel were friendly and helpful. We ordered a bottle of Chenin Blanc from Robinot which was good. The clams in a green curry broth were good. We then order the Cordon Bleu which was a chicken breast pocket stuffed with a mild cheese and ham. It was really awful. The chicken had very little flavor and was bone dry.I am an enthusiastic eater and i had 4 0r 5 bites and then stopped . Needless to say we were very disapointed.
