We came here due to the good reviews, but were disappointed. The service was decent and the interior was nice, but the food took way too long to come, and wasn’t worth the wait.
We ordered 2 starters: escargot, and avocado with prawns. The escargot came pretty quickly and was delicious. The avocado with prawns never came, but another dish came in its place (which we mistook for a main).
We ordered the sea bass, the beef fillet, and the duck breast with berries. These dishes took nearly an hour to arrive, and the restaurant was actually pretty empty. We were one of the first customers that came in during dinner time, and by the time we were served, the place was barely a third full. The worst part, I guess, was that the food really wasn’t worth the wait.
The sea bass was passable. The skin wasn’t descaled so was barely edible.
The duck breast was ok, though a little too chewy.
The beef was undercooked and too raw. The waiter probably noticed my look and offered to have the dish replaced. The remade beef was cooked much better, but by the time it came, I had waited so long for my dinner that I wasn’t really hungry anymore.
We wanted to order desserts (which sounded delicious), but by then we’d spent nearly 1.5 hours at the restaurant, with the most part just waiting for food to arrive. We decided to play safe and skip dessert.
There could be reasons why my experience differed so much from others’. Maybe the kitchen was understaffed today, or maybe there was a mishap in the food preparation. But the reality was that we entered the restaurant hungry, and left feeling more tired and drained than...
Read morePerfect! Definitely for meat lovers but 1-2 vegetarian options for starters and main dishes. The food was fresh, tasty, well balanced and well presented. Our orders (starter, main dish and desert) all arrived perfectly on time which might be due to the fact that the place was half-empty, but still, it was great not to wait 15-20min between each dish. The portions are fairly big. The meat I had (argentinian beef) was really tasty and coming with blue cheese sauce, cream sauce and caramelized oignons (and tasty well-cooked fries). Very decent list of wine. Decent prices for the quality of the food. The noix de saint-jacques with mushrooms was amazing btw The staff was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing with some jazz music playing. The interior is nice and tasteful with industrial big steel pieces, brick walls, comfy velvet seats and nice wall lightings. I would just suggest lowering the light's intensity (dimming it down) for an even cosier atmosphere. Great restaurant overall that I recommend, especially if you like good meat at fairly...
Read moreHey, this is a really excellent traditional French restaurant...nice room, great service and now let's talk about the food. Not for vegetarians or even pescatarians. We're talking meat. We had three different meat dishes and each one was superb. And huge! I loved my souris d'agneau and took some home. Reasonably priced, highly recommended and, for a special bonus, it's very close to the amazing Communist Party edifice ("building" doesn't quite cut it) on Place de Colonel Fabien which currently features a wonder exhibit called "Nous La Commune" on its exterior, street wall. Very moving, evocative, informative about the actual people who formed La Commune. (p.s. We got there at 7:30, it was empty and I ribbed my friends for having gone to the trouble of reserving. Diners came in off the street and were turned away and by 8:15 it was totally...
