Highly recommended. Had a few disappointments while in Paris (with the biggest being the 100+ euro a plate meal at Moulin Rouge), but this place was an absolute gem.
Got there right around when it opened at 7p and were the only ones there. Good thing we did, the place is small, takes reservations, and filled up quickly. Though it was a very quaint place, with only French patrons, the waiter/barman did an amazing job. Translated the menu and was incredibly friendly / helpful.
The place a really strange concept where you get a whole bottle, drink as much as you can, then they charge you for how much you drank. By the end of the meal, I was a little over half full, but they rounded down and charge half a bottle.
The food was great. For appetizer, we got the snails (without shells) and the plate full of assorted sausage, a great combination. For the entree, my wife ordered the chicken leg with cream sauce which was a bit buttery, but tasty none the less. I ordered the entricote which was supposed to be beef with bleu cheese, but instead was brought the special which was a steak with a wine sauce. The only way I could describe the steak was, it seemed rare. I've never had a rare steak, but hey, when in Paris.... It was great! A bit chewy, but very juicy and full of flavor.
Definitely attend if...
Read moreI chose this restaurant after reading all these amazing reviews and got really disappointed!
I ordered a fish dish, asked before if it was fried fish filet and I’ve got answer yes ! After that on my plate I saw fish that was from the can.... tasted awful!
Also what shocked me that after that “delicious” fish filet the waiter did not bother to change our cutlery.
Also I had another dish, it was a salad on the menu it said inside was greens, dried tomatoes and cheese... and it came with garlic potatoes in it , and I don’t eat garlic and don’t like it anywhere near me.
And my boyfriend got a steak (27 €), came out as very low quality of meat impossible to cut ! It’s more fat than actual meat on it! And btw the waiter didn’t even ask how well done my boyfriend wanted his steak to be ... super unprofessional, can’t cost 27€...
I would never come back and don’t recommend to visit this place ..
And btw atmosphere is kind...
Read moreWe were enchanted to find this wonderful bistro on the first night of our visit to Paris late summer. Wonderfully good "cuisine traditionnelle du terroir"---good traditional French country cooking paired with the most attentive and friendly service from the owner and from waiters. Delicious appetizers, great main plates, wonderful desserts, good wine, reasonable prices---it all came together. Indeed, we enjoyed our first meal at La Ravigote so much, both for the food and the flavor of the whole place, that we returned every evening of the five days we were in Paris, working our way through much of the menu. The remaining restaurants of Paris will have to await our next trip...and will still have to compete with La Ravigote for our...
