The attitude of some employees is hostile in my opinion. I wonder: You work for a super good cause. Aren't you proud of that?
I visit Paris regularly and I always go to Land& Monkeys for breakfast or lunch.
Last weekend I ordered some lunch in French at this location. But I was immediately treated like an annoying tourist. She talked back in simple English, in an automatic robotic way. Not a pleasant interaction.
I have experienced this many times at this location.
At Land and Monkeys Turenne (in the centre) the atmosphere is usually more cozy. I don't know why. Maby coincidence.
Other French people (who don't speak English) can always easily understand me in French (and vice versa) , so that's not the problem. Yes, I have an unattractive accent and I make grammatical mistakes, but that shouldn't be a burden.
When a foreigner in my country shows the strength to speak Dutch, I would show kindness, listen and talk back calmly. It doesn't have to take that much time at all.
It's just showing a little kindness. And by the way, it wasn't busy in the bakery either. Because sometimes I understand that stress can be a factor in deciding how to respond when you don't know your customers. (less room for nuances)
After I had my lunch in the Boulangerie, I walked to the counter and looked at the tastiest pastries for some time. There is so much choice and I didn't know yet what else I wanted to order.
I did not stand directly at the counter, but steps away close to the window. So other customers could easily go first. But because I didn't order directly, the lady was clearly irritated.
I told her that I just didn't know yet, but I got a very angry look back. I didn't feel welcome at all and I was shocked.
So I went away. I went to the concept store Aujourd'hui Demain for tasty snacks. It is often busy at this place as well, but you notice that all employees are passionate and respectful.
I hope Land& Monkeys pays attention to the treatment of customers too in the future! People from other countries are important as well. A. As a principle. B. Because they return another day and they tell their friends about this fantastic bakery.
The quality of the sandwiches, snacks and drinks are already perfect! I still love Land &...
Read moreComing to Paris land&monkeys was our first Parisian boulangerie experience. Hungry and full of optimistic expectations we entered the coffee shop. The look and interior design is splendid, it matches the vibe.
They add you a fee of around 0,50€ per pastery to eat "sur place". At the end this comes to a big extra bill, something we did not expected. Especially knowing the front door could NOT be closed, serving us a cold march wind that potentially could cause us a cold. Luckily I had my scarf.
On the other hand the "pain aux chocolats" where as sweet as we had dreamed of. Having a Great texture, not to sweet, not to greasy.
The free water tap fountain is A massive winner. An unexpected twist for a water loving Belgian.
The expensive extra fee for sitting down and the cold bree are resulting in the loss of a prestigious google review star.
Thank you for our first Parisian...
Read moreMany things on the display looked really good. The Pain au Raisin honestly was incredible and I'll come back for that. You couldn't tell it's vegan and it was really well made.
We also tried the kale or broccoli quiche and that was bad. First, it was served barely warm. We asked them to warm it up and they did, and you'd think because it's their job they would know how long to leave it in the oven, but no. Only the dough was warm and the inside cold.
The inside is nothing like a real (non vegan) French quiche. And I didn't expect a real quiche, not everything made vegan can be a good replica, and that's totally fine, but this wasn't good.
It lacked flavors (and taste), and felt way too thick and dense.
I'll try other...
