Le Bon Plan — Restaurant in Paris

We were traveling with our 8-month old son. After a long day of sightseeing in Paris, we stumbled across La Fresque on our way back to our rented apartment.

Our friendly waiter wasn't fazed when my extended family of 6 walked into their tight spaces with a baby. He immediately found us a spot in the back where we had more room for the stroller. Right after ordering our food, however, our baby began to act up and would not stop crying. My wife and I tried everything, including retreating to the empty basement area to feed our son, to no avail. Our waiter kept checking in on our progress and update us on the status of our food while we were down under.

When we couldn't quiet our baby, we asked our waiter if we could take our order (already waiting at our table) to go. One thing we learned on our French vacation is that "to-go" is not a common request; most restaurants aren't even equipped with take-out boxes. However, our very sympathetic waiter immediately scrambled to find some boxes (I think he had to run to another restaurant), and very kindly provided silverware in the take-out package as he had assumed we were in a hotel and didn't have a kitchen.

I didn't get to taste my excellent roast duck until we got back to our apartment, but I was much more impressed by the service here (also called out by several other Yelp reviews). Amazing food, wine, service and atmosphere. However, at the end our bill was more than 10 euros higher than expected with almost everything being charged 2 pounds higher than the price on the menu. Staff do not speak English very well (and we do not speak French), however, it wasn't worth for us to argue over what we would've left as a tip. The chef was really nice and accommodating. I visited this place with my friend, and the chef prepared heart shaped pizza for both of us. We really felt a warm welcome here. It was a good pizza and it filled me up to the brim! The desert especially was smooth and amazing!!
