A visiting alien would be forgiven for thinking that the human experience improves day by day; such is the prevalence of the saying, “that was the best __ I’ve ever had!” But if this alien was to come across me, they would understand we have our ups and downs - this phrase rarely leaves my lips. However… upon visiting this temple to the tastebuds, I cannot resist: This was the best pizza I’ve ever had. This was the best pasta I’ve ever had. This was the best red wine I’ve ever had. This was one of the best nights I’ve ever had.

Expecting nothing more than a simple meal to round off our first day in Paris, we sat on two metal chairs, tucked under a solitary table outside this humble looking casa of cooking. And though language let us down, friendship was extended through action. The staff transforming our quaint, lonely table into a scene fit for the great impressionists that once inhabited these very streets, outfitting our experience with comfy seats from inside, a complimentary basket of warm bread, and a touch-sensitive dimmable lamp whisked out the moment the sun left the horizon - the waitress meeting our needs before we knew them ourselves.

As the last drops of wine left our glasses, warming our hearts, we could tell this meal was the perfect end to our evening. Little did we know, it was also the perfect start to the rest of our lives, forever cradled by the memories of French-Italian Flavour Fusion.
