Just spent 6 nights (December 7-13) at the Card Hôtel. Wonderful stay in a great neighborhood with excellent access to two Métro lines.
I lived in Paris decades ago for about 20 months (and have been back a few times), and this part of the 17ème wouldn’t be top of kind for a hotel. But my wife’s company is pretty close by, so we chose the Card based on location and reviews.
We were completely satisfied with all aspects of our stay. We arrived before 9 am on Saturday morning, so our room wasn’t ready. But the person on duty checked our bags and made us a coffee, as we prepped for a day on the streets before getting back to the hotel in the early evening.
We ended up upgrading to a bigger room for about 70 euros, and it was worth it. The room was spotless and cleaned every day. All the in-room amenities are very good. Comfortable queen bed, plenty of good pillows, slippers provided nice bath linens, a Nespresso, a fridge, and good TV service. (Many sports channels, which was good for soccer matches.)
The breakfast is excellent. Fresh everything—breads and pastries, fruits, meats and cheeses, yogurts, granola, sweet and salted butters, loads of jams, etc. The automatic coffee machine is easy to use and make good not great coffee. (Paris now has modern coffee shops on top of the traditional cafés, so you’ll find plenty of good coffee.)
The neighborhood shopping (butcher, fish monger , boulangerie, patisserie, produce store, traiteur, wine shop…) is 20 seconds from the hotel. Wonderful stuff.
There are also several very good restaurants in the street, where we dined on two evenings.
There’s a small supermarket right across the street and a bigger store a few doors down.
Staff were also professional and warm. I tipped the woman who worked the breakfast 20 euros on our last day. She was so grateful and insisted it was too much. She more than deserved it.
The transit options mean this neighborhood—not central—doesn’t really feel too far away.
I expect that the Card will be our...
Read moreThe number one reason I chose the CARD Hotel was because they could accommodate my family. My husband and I have 2 teenage boys and it is very difficult to find rooms in Paris for families of 4. This worked out perfectly because we booked the “Family Room” which is actually 2 adjoining full size hotel rooms, each with their own bathroom, TV and closet. The rooms are smaller than American hotel rooms, but that is to be expected in Paris. I thought the rooms were very well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The location and staff really made this the perfect hotel for our family. We felt very safe and it was easy for Ubers to pick us up right in front of the hotel and only about a 10 minute ride to all the major tourist attractions. The absolute best thing about the hotel is the breakfast buffet! I was blown away at all the choices. It is not free, but definitely well worth it. It was beautifully presented and the food quality is incredible. It was nice that they always had someone cleaning up the buffet, so it was just as perfect for every guest. My only critique about the hotel is the scent in the lobby is a little too overpowering. It was a lovely scent, but just a...
