Worse place ever! No wonder not a single person during lunch. For 22 euro it’s a “surprise” up to the chef. I got a few dumplings, few edamame and a few pieces of dry meat. It feels like whatever kitchen left over that was the chef’s surprise dishes. Plus a restaurant with name goût, aside from salty I tasted nothing. Also as a Chinese, I am beyond disappointed with the food, and unfriendly services. I asked hot water the chef said he doesn’t have any. In a Chinese restaurant and next to pay counter he has a hot water boiler…

Absolutely loved the whole concept we were suggested to have a surprise element to our dishes and I’ll tell you we were not disappointed. We had starter radish in olive oil and freshly made dumpling. I usually don’t like the tofu but the main dish that you see in the picture was absolutely delicious. I really wished people would visit this place because we were the only ones there. Because it felt like I had a real Michelin star restaurant vibe here. Maybe I’m exaggerating but the food and experience was really that great.

A very good place to try different kind of Asian cuisine, one more balanced and delicate, one that will soothe your mind and soul, every dish we ordered was fine tuned, be it the spiciness or smoky notes of sesame oil on the aubergine dish, rich texture of the prawn sauce ( and prawns themselves cooked to perfection). My only problem was with dumplings, though very beautiful in shape, the meat Inside felt slightly dry. P.s. I read the negative reviews, and some of the replies were pure gold...

A great experience! The chef actually has a "food philosophie" where he sees for as a way to balance life, season and body. In a way, Chinese medicine made of food. If you ask him, he'll be happy to tell you more about this philosophy. It was fascinating to listen to him and he was very generous in his explanations. He goes to great lengths to prepare his food. For example, it takes 4 days to get the beef entree ready. 2 days to prepare, 1 day with a certain style of cooking and then another on the day he'll serve it. And I could not detect the taste of MSG. I didn't ask if he used it, but when I spoke with him, he explained how he was aiming at getting the taste of food as natural as if you'd get it in a village or so.

The menu is small, 4 starters and 4 entrees, including the "plat du jour", starter and entree of the day, and only one dessert. Today I enjoyed some pork meatballs with ginger and spring onions rolled in rice and steamed on a marinated cabbage lead, then I got chicken with ginger and spring onion in caramel sauce, served with rice, and the steamed appel over a sesame caramel sauce. My friend got the Asian aubergine, the beef (which was to die for too). It was fresh, tasty, light and I feel really healthy and vibrant. I drank Oolong tea, brewed to perfection, smokey but not strong.

I'll be back to try the other things in the...

Shan Yi, owner of Shan Goût has created a unique experience/ restaurant in Paris, not far from Gard de Lyon. To be exact, it's on a par with Michelin star restaurants both here and in London and if you're lucky enough to go, and go with his choices, you will be rewarded with a gourmet meal, fabulous fusion of flavours and years of tradition adapted to a present palate. I've not had such an amazing and exquisite 'Chinese' taste experience in a very long time.

Plus, we each had 4 courses, amuse bouches, desert, good wines and remarkable tea, with dishes to sensitively explode your taste buds and... an exceptionally well matched port selection with desert at a price that reflects their love of their craft, and not purely for their personal financial reward, as their passion leads their purpose.

Thank you, it was exceptionally good and your charm and Karma make for a truly special occasion. If you know - you know - if you don't - don't go (unless you truly want to know ;)) they deserve to be successful. Thanks Shan Yi and...

This restaurant is a gem, not just in Paris, but on the entire planet. You must realize that the chef is recreating recipes that have a thousand year-old tradition. Many of the dishes employ methods which require numerous steps which often take several days to cook or marinate. Some reviewers complain that the dishes are not Chinese enough, others moan that they are too French. These people do not know what they are talking about.

Chef Shan achieves something quite extraordinary: his dishes are characterized by balance. They have layers of subtle flavors. These days, most people’s taste buds have been numbed by excess sugar, salt and hot spices. If you drink Coca-cola or Red Bull all week, you will never appreciate the delicacies placed in front of you. For everyone else, you must visit this restaurant when you come to Paris. Like I said, this restaurant stands out...
