“Meh” sums up the experience: first we ordered a bottle of wine and upon mentioning its name the waiter (I think he was the owner) gave us a rude look, paused, and said that it was not a great wine and that he wasn’t sure they still carried it. For being a wine specialty restaurant you should know what wines you carry, and what I find most ironic is the fact that he got disturbed by our choice of wine because according to his standards it was not good - then why have the wine listed on there!? Secondly, AFTER we paid the check for a big group dinner (350€ +) he overheard us mentioning tequila, and he said -oh we have some Mezcal, would you like some shots? To us this was implied that he was gifting us the shots, while he was pouring them we even asked him pour only a little and not make them so big & invited him to take one with us. A few minutes later he came by with a second check and asked us to pay for the shots, at 12€ each! I don’t have a problem with paying for what I order but if you offered it AFTER we paid a really big check, and you allowed us to ask you to pour only a little, it is implied that you’re gifting it to us. If you’re not, then you should make sure your customers know it. At €12 a shot I think this is not negligible. The food was okay, not outstanding : The mushroom pasta was lacking flavor, but the halloumi and the beef croquettes were good. That being said, I don’t think I would come back, at least this definitely would not be my first or second choice. I would advise to rethink your choice before coming here, I didn’t find the staff to be very welcoming or nice and me and my friends did not...
Read moreI came here with my brother one evening and we left more than happy with everything. We still can’t get over it. We arrived just before service but the guys were more than happy to seat us and sort us out with a table outside. I decided to entrust the wine choices to one of the guys serving us and he made all the right choices based on a few wines I had tried before and told him I liked. Some stunning bottles of all different types. Food wise it was above and beyond as well. The Pork fillet was crazy, the beef confit was also incredible. The menu at the time we went had such a spectrum of flavours but all balanced really well. It had just enough different elements to have you dip your toes in to something new and then realise you want to dive fully in. The duck hearts in tarragon sauce exemplified that for us. So good. We actually overstayed our reservation but instead of being hasty and difficult about it our guy sorted us out with a new table by the bar and proceeded to serve us just as personally until we happily called it a night.
The service of it all really intricate and personal. And the vibe was great. Even though everything they served us was world class It felt and came across as very gracious and effortless for them to give such a good service.
We’ll be back for sure....
Read moreThe food at Yard is always outstanding. It's extremely unfortunate that the service is not at all on the same level.
Was more than thrilled to bring one of my visiting friends to this restaurant but the experience was just really disappointing because of our waitress' extremely bad attitude. We got a table outside and the menus were basically thrown at us. We ordered the food and the she forgot to ask us what we wanted to drink. When she came with the food we still didn't have glasses on our tables- and she didn't ask us. When my friend told her that we wanted two glasses of wine she basically started to walk away while talking to us.
Let me add that we arrived pretty late (Around14h) during lunch so the restaurant was almost empty, meaning she wasn't busy serving others or something like that. Arriving 'late' to restaurants is a touchy subject here in Paris but we asked if it was okay and the owner said it was no problem what so ever.
I hope your experience will be better than...
