Zoo Rock Café — Restaurant in Pointe-à-Pitre

I went to Guadeloupe on a leisure trip with two of my friends in mid-November. I fell upon this restaurant after looking at reviews while planning my trip.

I had a type of steak for the main dish accompanied with roquefort sauce. The food was exquisite, and the service was great.

After we were done eating, we sat down to watch the NBA games that were on that night. A few women showed up. This is a good spot for single men visiting the island looking for a good spot to chill.

Watch out if you leave late as there might be some vagrants walking around asking for food. We encountered one who was particularly imposing, my friend lost his doggy bag in the process.

I recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits the island.

I'm not new to this location. My first experience goes all way back to over 20 years. Since I lived here before, this is one of the first locations I go to on the weekends. However, last night was a disaster. My fiance had a skewer. The meat on the skewer was really tough, and the baked potato was burnt. I wasn't hungry, so I had a salad, which was passable. The servers seemed to have forgotten about our table. When they remembered us, the service was horrible. We were basically rushed.

The overall experience was... I'm still trying to find the right word for it. I definitely won't...

Je suis allée au Zoo Rock Café le 29/08/2024 vers les 23h30 pour boire un verre. J'ai pris une capaîrinha passion, que je paye directement. La serveuse a préparé la boisson et la mélange devant moi au bar. Pendant qu'elle la mélange je m'aperçois qu'il y a une grosse blatte au fond du verre. J'alerte immédiatement la serveuse qui contacte son collègue et jette cette dernière. Sans rien dire, elle re-prépare une autre boisson devant moi en utilisant le même shaker sans l'avoir lavé. Et dépose le nouveau verre devant moi en me disant désolée que c'est un autre collègue qui a dû commencer la préparation et que c'est à ce moment que la blatte a dû rentrer vers le citron. Je lui ai fait la remarque qu'elle n'a pas lavé le shaker et les ustensiles utilisés. Je n'ai même pas touché la boisson. Je me suis levée et j'ai indiqué à la serveuse que je ne boirai pas cette boisson. Elle passe en caisse et me rembourse. Une personne ( je suppose le propriétaire) s'approche de moi qu'à ce moment pour me demander est-ce qu'il peut me payer un autre verre où j'ai bien évidemment refusé. Je ne parle pas d'une petite mouche qui aurait pu se glisser dans un verre par hasard. On parle quand même d'une blatte américaine. Je ne comprends pas qu'une blatte aussi grosse puisse passer à l'attrape dans une préparation. Et surtout que les ustensiles n'aient pas directement été désinfectés et/ou bien lavés. Je ne comprends même pas qu'elle m'ait pas directement demandée à être remboursée. Plus jamais je ne retournerai dans ce restaurant et surtout une nouvelle peur est débloquée. Et n'essayez même pas dans votre retour de faire comme si je ne suis pas passé...
