LE PIRAS — Restaurant in Reims

We were looking for somewhere close to the major champagne houses that was open on a Sunday, and Le Piras turned out to be a wonderful find. Before lunch we visited the Basilique Saint-Remi, a beautiful medieval abbey church just a short walk away — peaceful, steeped in history, and well worth the stop. Our lunch at Le Piras was a last-minute booking, but we were very glad we managed to get a table. A haute cuisine restaurant a stone's throw from the Basilica of St. Remy. We stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed. The selection of dishes is quite large for a haute cuisine restaurant and the portions are also good. All of the dishes we ordered were very tasty, though a bit surprised by the combination of duck and bacon garnish, not sure if the two go together but individually it was delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful with food choices, the service is top notch. We made reservations in advance on the restaurant's website, as even though it was a weekday lunch, the restaurant was quite full. If you want to try unusual dishes, go to this restaurant.

Restaurant mit gehobener Küche nur einen Steinwurf von der Basilika Saint-Rémy entfernt. Wir gingen zum Mittagessen, und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Die Auswahl an Gerichten ist für ein Restaurant mit gehobener Küche ziemlich groß, die Portionen sind auch gut. Alle Gerichte, die wir bestellt haben, waren sehr lecker. Allerdings hat uns die Kombination von Ente mit Speckbeilage etwas überrascht. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob diese beiden Produkte zusammenpassen, aber einzeln waren sie lecker. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit bei der Auswahl der Gerichte, der Service ist erstklassig. Wasn’t great unfortunately. Quite expensive for the quality. We paid 150 euro for 2 persons. Which is 54 per menu and I had wine pairing for 38. Starter and dessert were ok, but my beef was overcooked and the quality of meat wasn’t great. Super disappointed…. It was supposed to be a special dinner. Also the plating was not nice.
