I'm extremly disapointed of how we were welcomed to the restaurant after my first try and the 2 after that (which were with a lovely waitress) this time the person who welcomed us to the restaurant was extremly unfriendly asking us what to drink while yelling at us and got upset (yelling) just because we ordered crêpes instead of ordering a whole course this was the first time such a thing happened to me, being yelled at in restaurant, in my WHOLE life . Disappointed so sad to feel unwelcomed of what was one of my places to go if i craved crêpes 😔 And answering your comment: What really happened : I arrived at 19:32 for a reservation made for 19:30 my friends came before me (~19:15) so i have no idea what happened before that, and the 2mins delay was due to the 2persons that weren't able to come since i was trying to understand the why they're not coming and why the short notice. I sat down and been asked what to drink (in a yelling way) i was like ok masks, covid probably that's why won't make a big deal of it then my friend tells the person serving us that 2persons that were supposed to come won't she didn't like it and starts yelling at her as in blaming her why they didn't come (i'm not imaging it cause the table next to us started looking at us) , and the yelling happend 3 times before ordering once for not giving an information we just got ourselves another to tell us other people came and she had to refuse them but she could've put us in a smaller table and have them (which yeah sure do so but no yelling is needed) and another one just before ordering for the same "table issue" Then ordering came we wanted to have crêpes only not a whole meal course then were "educated" in a so unfriendly way that it was a restaurant not a café and we're not "allowed" to have only crêpes at 7pm but ok she'll let us have it (this is when i understood noth) she came back and started yelling at the one who reserved for not telling her that people weren't coming (we didn't know ourselves till 19:30 things like that happen in life we couldn't've known that it will to tell her before hand the people that were supposed to come didn't know neither) again i'm not imagining cause people looking at us. That's when we said that we should get out cause we clearly aren't welcomed.
U can notice that i'm talking about you in a third person cause i still can't wrap my head around that it was u the owner who did that i was shook. This whole situation could've been handled in a different way you could've told us nicely to move to a table u select in a nicer way and could've stated either here or a on u're window that you don't serve only crêpes after a certain time there's... No matter how a place is bad or good the service trumps all. I don't usually put negative comments on Google cause it takes energy but u can see from this long comment how the experience affected me. I hope all the best for you and your crêperie knowing the current situation. Have a nice day. Ps: How my friend experience things are not the same as me so her comment has nothing to do with mine we're different people experiencing things differently. And it was a friend's birthday which we thought no better place to start the celebration with good crêpes than la gavotte's but apparently...
Read moreFirst off, La Gavotte is really small (maybe 15 tables, give or take). So on weekends, it may be a good idea to reserve if you are not going during an off hour. I went at 2:00pm on a Wednesday, so I had no problem getting a table. The hostess and cook are very welcoming and warm people. The menu is quite large, and there are lots of great options.
I opted for La Basque, a galette containing smoked duck breast, chèvre, figs, apricots, and a liberal drizzle of honey. It was excellently prepared and nicely presented. After devouring my galette, the hostess/waitress handed me a dessert crêpe menu and explained some of their items, pointing out more popular choices. These were all rather complex (and pricey) crêpes, and I told her I was in the mood for something simple. She flipped to the back of the menu and showed me some of the more straightforward desserts.
I ordered an espresso and a caramel crêpe since caramel is a bit of a Breton specialty. The espresso was made with one of those Nespresso/Keurig type machines, but it was good and was served with a small caramel. The caramel crêpe was outstanding. One of the best crêpes I've had in France really.
I'd definitely recommend La Gavotte, and I look forward to returning the next time...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. I arrived around 13:58h to join my friends, who had already been seated and ordered. When I asked for a menu, the staff refused, saying it was too late to serve lunch. However, I noticed that just a few minutes earlier, another table was given a menu and even ordered savory dishes after they denied me the option to do so.
The staff only offered me desserts, which felt incredibly frustrating and unfair. I spent the rest of my time feeling uncomfortable, especially knowing other customers were able to order proper meals while I was restricted to a limited choice. The lack of consistency and the dismissive attitude from the staff really ruined the...
