La Moulerie de Local- La Cotinière, Île d'Oléron — Restaurant in Rochefort

Restaurant is in a quiet non touristy side road away from the relentless sun. The concept is great. Restaurant specialises in moule frites and does it really well. Had the curry mussels which were outstanding. So were the chips. Portions are good too. What takes some getting used to is the take away packaging as well as the wooden spoon as the only piece of cutlery. Found it really difficult to eat mussels with the spoon. There is no bread served with the mussels to soak up the stunning sauce. The waitress speaks English. Huge plus. The atmosphere is consciously minimalistic perhaps a bit too much so. Check the opening hours with the establishment. The ones on google maps are incorrect. Overall...

Not on the mainstreet but tucked away in a brand new shopping ally. Walk the mainstreet down from the port/harbour/sea and the ally is about a 100 meters on your left.

The food is excellent, the service nice and polite and the concept is to make your order and receive a bag (which is also the wastebin) with tasty and fresh...

Que c'est agréable, un soir, de se poser avec ses ami.e.s après s'être baladé.e.s dans le port ! Ici vous attendent de délicieuses moules en sauce, accompagnées de tendres frites cuites dans de la graisse de boeuf. Un vrai régal pour les papilles et des portions bien généreuses, faites minutes, qui auront sûrement raison de votre faim. Concept dans l'air du temps à un prix abordable et qui est maitrisé, avec des emballages recyclables et recyclés, y compris pour les bouteilles en verre "consignées" des différentes boissons. Ces dernières sont produites artisanalement dans la région (La Bullerie d'Oléron), ce qui est un sacré plus ! Le tout est à consommer sur place ou à emporter dans des emballages adaptés et de qualité. Le personnel, peu nombreux, est souriant, blagueur et aussi chaleureux que leur cuisine peut l'être ! Attention à ne pas trop hésiter, le succès laisse peu de places vacantes aux curieux. Bon...
