An Absolutely Wonderful Dining Experience!

From the moment we walked in, everything about this restaurant was exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with just the right balance of elegance and comfort. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavour, beautifully presented, and perfectly cooked — you can tell the chefs take real pride in their work.

The service was outstanding throughout the evening. Our hostess deserves a special mention — she greeted us with a genuine smile, made us feel instantly welcome, and ensured that everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Her attention to detail and friendly manner truly elevated the experience.

I happened upon Chez Clara one afternoon during a wander around Rouen and fell for the place. Having returned to eat there at lunchtime the next day it lived up to expectations! It was really busy with locals availing of the excellent value food, the buzz and the efficient, friendly service. Clara speaks great English so don’t worry if your French isn’t wonderful. The food was hearty and delicious. If you want to experience a proper ‘local’ French lunch spot, this is the place. I saw adverts for a music concert that was on but due to other event I didn’t make it but I can imagine that a musical evening there would be magical! A hidden gem in Rouen! This charming bistro feels like stepping into someone’s home—bustling with locals, warm, and full of character. The owner moves from table to table in a delightful rush, ensuring everyone is taken care of while making you feel genuinely welcome.

Despite our efforts to order in French, she kindly assisted in English with a smile. The Chicken Provençale was a classic, full of rich flavors, while the fish cassolette arrived piping hot—comforting and perfect for a chilly day.
