Chez Yulin — Restaurant in Rouen

WORST.FOOD.EVER!!!

This is the ONE place to avoid if you are ever in Rouen and craving Asian cuisine. We were “lured” into the restaurant, what with its wafting asian cuisine smells during our last two days of staying in the neighbourhood!!! And we were sooooo excited to try and eat Asian food in France!!! Only to be disappointed beyond belief.

I have never ever written a bad review. I believe in not going back to a place/restaurant where I had a bad experience than writing about it on “social media”. But this restaurant and experience has forced me to go against my personal approach in the interest of the community.

My husband and I ordered a main dish each and then ordered a plate of Udon noodles to share…that’s when it all went south and we were sternly told by the waiter that we couldn’t get the “free rice” that was supposed to be a part of the main dish. My husband said that we were fine to pay for the “free rice”…but the racist attack had started and continued!!!

The waiter gave us a horrible vibe - why are you customers here???? NOT AT ALL SUITABLE FOR THIS JOB!!!

Originally this was going to be a bad review about slow service, however if you read on, you will see how this tuned into a very good experience:

We walked in without reservation to try some Chinese food for a change. It took about 15 minutes to get our order in and we had to wait some time for our drinks to arrive. After about 45 minutes, the owner came by to apologize for the delay of our food, it tuned out our order slip had fallen on the floor. We received free drinks and a portion of edamame to make up for the inconvenience. This is unfortunate but can happen. The food though was delicious, hence the 5 star. The bibimbap was seething hot and the rice at the bottom nice and crispy. The beef was very tender. My mother had fried noodles with beef, and the beef was also super tender. My wife had a mapo tofu, which was spicy and great texture of the tofu. So after all definitely...

Restaurant chinois avec une carte assez petite (qui rime souvent avec bonne cuisine) mais tout de même très complète, qui vous proposera de nombreux choix de nouilles, de bibimbap, de bouillon, et autres plats marinés selon vos envies. On notera tout de même une carte variable en fonction des choix du chef, et vous pourrez retrouver des nouveautés appétissantes.

Le service y est très agréable, vous serez installé très rapidement, on sent une vraie conscience du personnel pour ses clients. On reviendra rapidement vers vous pour prendre votre commande, en vous conseillant selon vos envies, en vous expliquant les plats, rien a dire, un belle équipe.

Pour la carte des boissons, vous retrouverez un assortiment plutôt varié de boissons alcoolisées, de soft, en passant bien évidemment par les boissons typiques chinoises.

Pour ce qui est des plats, vous serez servi en quantité, sans pour autant dénigrer la qualité. Chaque plat est bien cuisiné, on ressent chaque aliment présent, on est servi très rapidement comparé à la complexité des plats.

L'ambiance y est agréable, chaleureuse, on trouve rapidement sa place au sein de cet établissement, qui a première vue paraît petit mais qui réserve de nombreuses surprises. Notamment pour ses tables de groupe, avec plateau tournant, qui pourront accueillir aussi bien une petite famille qu'un grand groupe de collègues.

Si vous souhaitez manger des plats asiatiques de qualité, foncer dans ce restaurant, n'hésitez pas à prendre à emporter si vous préférez, dans tous les cas, vous serez agréablement surpris par la qualité et la quantité des plats.
