Visited this restaurant tonight for a nice meal for our overnight stay in Rouen. As a family, we really love French food. However, this place was really below par and the 100 euro bill really stung!! Usually I would say something to the manager but after driving for 12 hours, I didn't have the energy so we paid up and left. The children's menu consisted of a piece of tasteless boil in the bag fish in a white sauce with greasy soggy chips and an ice cream for 14 euros which they didn't eat! Couldn't even bring myself to try and encourage them as it was really grim. I had what was meant to be sea bass which was a pan fried whole fish full to the brim of bones and very little flesh and a few undercooked potatoes for 16.50 euros. Husband's steak was edible but not worth the 25 euro price tag! Wine was lovely but at 4.50 for a lemonade, it was the worst 100 euros I've spent in a long time. Plus the most disinterested waiter ever!!! Hence I couldn't face saying anything after a very long day traveling. I truly only usually leave positive reviews but felt the need to review this place as it needs to up it's game. Do avoid, we wish we'd just gone to the supermarket and had a carpet picnic in the...
Read moreI think this is the first time I’ve felt like a bad review is necessary but with the choices available in Rouen, give this place a miss. First, we asked three times for a white Bordeaux that was on the menu and told it was a red wine like we were idiots. We had to point it out and only got a oh yeah, ok. One starter was nice, the other tiny and weirdly perfumed. We waited about 45 minutes for a main course which was barely adequate. Everyone in the restaurant looked bored and unimpressed….. Yes we’re English tourists but we try our best to be respectful and patient- this place was taking more orders than it could manage and not delivering. A €47 menu de jour lunch including two small...
Read moreI had the tomato and mozzarella Mille feuille, the tomato was cut into very small pieces and mixed with a lot of oil and basil which was a bit overpowering. The mozzarella was very dry and there was only 3 small pieces, it was not the nicest mozzarella I've had. It was very cold also, I think it must be pre made and taken from the fridge when it's ordered. I prefer tomatoes to be served room temperature otherwise the flavour is lost. Not a great starter. For my main course I had chicken from the area with rice which was OK but nothing memorable. Our waitress offered a good wine selection and we both enjoyed the wines she recommended. OK service but I would not rush back...
