Restaurant La Cloche — Restaurant in Sélestat-Erstein

As the phone was not answering, we went to the restaurant to see if we could book a table for the evening. It was about 18h00. Of course, the restaurant wasn't open, but, as expected, there was a lady inside the restaurant. We waved by the door to ask her about the booking, and she just kept shouting that the restaurant was closed. We asked her (many times) to come to the door, so we could make the question abou the BOOKING, and, when she finally showed up, she's already arrived complaining that she told us plenty of times that they were closed! When we could finally ask her about the booking, she was, AGAIN, so EXTREMELY RUDE answering the question, that we gave up on going to...

Nasty waiter.

We went to sit at a four-place table for dinner at about 6:30. Only one other table was occupied, so the place was certainly not close to full. We wanted to sit side by side so we could both look at the town square. A waiter came over to us and said we couldn't do that; we had to sit face to face.

After only a few minutes to look at the menu, he came over and asked what we wanted to eat. When we started to say that we hadn't decided yet, he sneered at us and walked away.

So we walked away as well. An enjoyable meal there was obviously not going to...

Ordered organic steak, expensive, but absolutely worst steak ever had, mostly gristle and fat. Asked for a better one, but they said kitchen was too busy, do I want discount off something else instead, free beers etc. Said I just wanted a descent steak - but this wasn't an option. Took a cheese platter, but very disappointed indeed in quality and service. Nice atmosphere - but...
