Jeanjean Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint-Denis

We have been for dinner at this restaurant with three people. The food tasted good and was nicely presented. Many of the dishes offered were cold. Also, the preparation of the dishes was not demaning for a chef and more on the simple side. Cuttted meat, simple garnish. Considering the effort to prepare the food, the pricing, at least for us,was not well balanced. Even the good quality of the food does not justify it. The restaurant was full and extremely noisy, so it was hard to enjoy a nice conversation. Wine selection is good. The service was nice and supportive. But from my point of view, there are plenty of other restaurants available in Paris offering similar french tapas concepts but are way better in value for money. At least we can not follow the high review figures. In the end, it is all about demand and offer as it seems the concept works out as the restaurant was fully booked. But sorry we will not come again and spend our money for better value and nicer and more quiet atmosphere somewhere else. PS, Maybe we had a bad day and the original chef was absent as we can see from the other pictures that they can do...

We were so happy to finally try this restaurant which is not far away from our neighbourhood and would have been “ment to be” our new friday lunch spot…. I booked yesterday but when my husband and I arrived today for lunch (and apologised to be 15 minutes too late) we were directly criticised by the service telling us that we lost our table (half of the restaurant was empty…)! The service (very annoyed) then placed us at another table - did not recommend or suggest anything, gave us one dirty menu for two and stayed unfriendly. The guys in the kitchen though seemed to be in a better mood and the food was good … but as the service was so impolite, we only took the main course and left....

My fiancé and I came here on a whim for my 30th birthday, our first night in Paris, and we loved it so much we wished we could have gone back again the next night! (They close on weekends). The staff were very forthcoming to people unable to speak French, so friendly, attentive and recommended us both delicious red and white wines to go with our meals! I have, and assume will never, eat a better croque monsieur again in my life! The atmosphere was busy yet so cosy 🥰 and so welcoming as I've said. A perfect evening for my birthday surprise and we hope to return...
