Au Coin Des Amis — Restaurant in Saint Martin (France)

I was out on a tour with our driver who brought us to this location as a result of us asking to stop because of the smell of barbecue. There were several restaurants located in this area that were cooking barbecue all of which smelled very good. We asked If we could get the items to go and have them packaged for us in containers so we could continue the tour we had already started. We ordered with a young lady and she went off to fill the order of chicken rice and salad and ribs rice and salad and chicken breast barbecued. I asked for an extra container to put some of the hot sauce to add to our meal. We received the meal nicely packaged with plastic utensils and all of the sauces located in the container. I used the extra container to fill it up with some hot sauce from the table. There was one primary negative issue I found with receiving the to go order. The Green salad was put in with the hot rice and the hot meat. The green salad apparently cooked while in there with the hot food inside the styrofoam container. Food was pretty good, view was spectacular, and the SCAM was incredible at this lolo! We should have read the reviews. They tried to scam us: they had the audacity to try to change the prices of the food after we ate while the menu was right in front of us! They tried to tell us they didn’t see the items on the menu so they had to make up a price.

Most drunk tourists won’t notice an extra $5 or bother to do the arithmetic. They also solicit tips (in our case, saying “the service charge is NOT included” very loudly, twice), which is questionable but not as egregious as the price switching scam. We left a tip.

By far the best meal we had the whole week on the island. We ordered the rib platter and the chicken platter. Large portions, rice and beans were delicious but the standout was definitely the ribs. They had such amazing flavor and were so tender. I loved sitting at our table watching the ladies cook everything over the open grill and the view of the water can't be beat.
