La Pergola is a regular stop when we're in Le Bugue. It has a friendly atmosphere and decent food at a good price. The owner is especially welcoming, but not overbearing, sometimes he sings along with the music playing. Pergola is not a "fine dining" experience, more fun dining. We found it a good honest spot to come and check the internet while slowly sipping our wine and eating the little dishes of popcorn(!) the owner provides as a sort of appetizer. The review below is a year old and I have now been back-but in winter. Just wonderful! Always great to see an independent restaurant like this full of locals and working people. Rustic French onion soup with wonderful depth and proper cheese. The main course was far better than I expected from the description on the menu. Dessert was a beautifully presented crepe stuffed with fried ripe banana and a rich chocolate sauce. 250ml Red wine and a coffee. Just over €20! I want to add another star!!
