La Source — Restaurant in Sarlat-la-Canéda

Good food overall and nicely presented. I was however disappointed by a couple of things. My slice of foie gras was topped with some grains of salt that were not fitting. The veal t-bone, very smooth, was ruined by cooking it over a cast iron steak plate. The result was a carbonised steak that was au-bleau as requested.

My wife's salad that she took as a starter was in fact much more tasty and cheaper in comparison.

The overall atmosphere is not bad, in proximity of the river, and underneath the castle, but the main road next spoils a bit this mashup.

Disappointing. The menu was limited and expensive, but probably because we went on a mid-January evening. The starter was very good, pressée fois gras and canard. My main course, the dorade was dry and my partner's truite was uninspiring. Both served with a few sad looking salad leaves and some potato wedges. It was our last night in the Perigord Noir, staying in Castelnaud and we walked down for what I thought was going to be an early/quiet dinner (late September... and many of the restaurants in town are closed).
