Restaurant Le Tournepique — Restaurant in Sarlat-la-Canéda

Disappointing experience. We are a family of four with two young children and were seated promptly, but it went downhill from there. It took about 20 minutes for someone to take our order, and then over an hour for a simple salad to arrive. Meanwhile, several other tables who arrived after us were already being served their full meals.

Despite asking multiple times if our children’s meals could be brought out sooner, the staff made no effort to accommodate us. Eventually, we had to cancel our entrée orders altogether due to the complete lack of service. The food we did receive was average at best—not up to par with what you'd expect in this region.

We were polite and spoke French to the staff, so it's unclear why we were treated so poorly. Perhaps tourists are not welcome here. In any case, we won’t be returning and would not recommend this...

We had a table in the open section towards the river looking up to the Chateau above. This made it a really lovely place to sit and eat. We booked in advance which I think helped. Food was very good. The food was extremely tasty, basque origins as we had the tapas menu. Starters were wonderful. The main courses were good but maybe a little samey as the starters so the flavours had worn off on us a little. Our daughter had the chicken nuggets and chips which she said was very good. My only issue which we didn't realise was the children's menu main course is delivered with the starter. Had we known we would have asked for it to come with the mains. When we entered we thought we would have a lovely birthday dinner (it was my daughters birthday) but we had a horrible experience, we called the restaurant to book a nice table but when we got there we found that we had a table by the door and there was a dead wasp in my other daughters cup and it was very bright because the sun was in our eyes, when we asked for English menu the waiter very rudely said no, when we asked to move he rudely said no even though the restaurant was empty, when we asked if he could help us he rudely said no, we didn’t even stay for food so we told them we were leaving and the other waiter wasn’t very happy
