Sea lounge — Restaurant in Sartène

For anyone looking for a buzzy atmosphere, fabulous food and excellent service - sadly you will not find it here. And I say sadly because this place is beautiful and nicely located and so has so much potential!

While the restaurant was completely booked, my partner and I were staying close by and decided to start our eveningapero with a drink and some tapas there and here is where the issues began:

Even though the sofa/lounge area was 50-75% empty, the lady at the front desk insisted we were not allowed to sit at those seats (rather on the small woven stools which do not work well for ladies in dresses!) because they were 'reserved for those eating in the restaurant' - we were actually fine with this despite it staying 50% empty.

Sitting in this segregated area made it so difficult to get served. Waiters/waitresses were bouncing too and from the restaurant and lounge area, completely bypassing us. We had to ask 3 times just to get a menu, which frankly is ridiculous.

Tapas was just average.

At the end of our experience, my partner went to share constructive feedback to the lady at the front desk who immediately became defensive and you could really sense the fear waiters/waitresses there had of her, which is probably why the service was appalling.

In short, this place is not recommended. Find another beach club, or head to Costa Marina restaurant which is where we went (they too were fully booked that night but instead welcomed us with open arms, did everything to find us a table that evening and even gave us free digestives on the house as we were one of the last guests in the...

Despite pre-booking and confirmation the restaurant did not send the agreed tender boat to get us. We waited for over 30‘ until somebody from our boat had to swim to shore to call the boat. Instead of apologizing we were told that it was our mistake (or that the internal communication broke down, they did not have a coherent story). When we finally arrived at the restaurant 40‘ delayed and with hungry children the maitre d was outright rude. The service was slow (not to blame the waiters, they were obviously understaffed), we had to ask 3x for olive oil. When it arrived everybody else was finished with their food etc. The quality of the food was ok but massively overpriced. The steak (a point) was overcooked and dry. The fried calamary arrived lukewarm and were the opposite of crispy; the wine wasn’t cold; they brought food we hadn’t ordered and other items never showed up. The best dish was the burger with goats cheese. Oh, and of course they had run out of all ice cream flavors by 2pm (this alone should tell you all you need to know about kitchen planning). we’ve been coming to this beach club for over 3 years, but after today, we won’t be returning. we had booked two beds three weeks in advance, as we always do, because we’re three adults. a few days ago, we cancelled one bed for one day only because one of us was sick. the next day, they suddenly decided to give us just one bed — for all three of us — with no explanation and no effort to fix their mistake.

one of us had to sit separately in the lounge while the others stayed at the bed. the staff didn’t seem to care. there was no apology, no responsibility taken, just blank looks and a receptionist who clearly didn’t want to help. she was rude, dismissive, and made us feel like we were the problem.

the service has become careless and unprofessional. after years of loyalty, it’s really frustrating to be treated like this. they’ve clearly stopped caring about returning customers, and the whole experience felt like we were being pushed aside. if you’re looking for a place that values its guests, look...
