Hostel Sicily Queen — Restaurant in Saumur

While staying in Saumur we were trying to find a restaurant to have dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Everywhere in the centre of town seemed to be fully booked. Spreading the search further away from the centre we found the Reine de Sicilie. What a find! The preparation and serving of the dishes was immaculate. The two ladies who were "front of house" were attentive and professional. There is nothing about the welcome, the food or the service which could have been improved. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Congratulations to Manuella and Cedric Poulain. Long may you prosper. ...

We returned here having had a great meal and evening two years ago. The food was fine, although the main course was disappointing, nice fish, with an egg cup full of overcooked risotto, allegedly asparagus, but not seen spotted ! Basically no vegetables. The main issue was the lighting, which is hostile. We had a bright light shining straight in our faces. Many tables had the same. We asked for this to be redirected, were told that this would happen, it didn't. The room is lovely, such a shame to spoil...

May 2024_This was one of the best meals we have ever had in France over many years. Everything about the experience was just superb. We will return again, many times I hope. May 2025- we returned again and found the experience as much of a delight as it had been last year. It is such a joy to see a small and special restaurant doing what they do best, serving great food to appreciative customers. Thank you again and I am sure we will...
