BUT FIRST, COFFEE — Restaurant in Saumur

Today was our third visit here but first for food. We had admired other people having delicious looking dishes on our previous visits, so booked a table to ensure we got to enjoy their brunch. My goodness, it was amazing and definitely didn’t disappoint. The dishes were full of flavour and colour and the portions are generous. We were there at peak time and the waitresses were doing an amazing job serving everyone. We had to wait longer than we had previously but it didn’t matter, we weren’t in any hurry and the waitresses always apologised for the wait. I’m giving them five stars because it’s a cool, cozy place that Saumur was truly in need of. Deserts look absolutely incredible and worth a try. It’s more of the “kid friendly” kind of vibe rather than the “read a book” kind of coffee store vibe and is centered really around brunch so it can be a little hectic. Super child-friendly: big toilet with baby changing; a corner space with some toys and books to keep little ones busy. Good, hot espresso coffee & flat whites. Food was a bit style-over-substance: large, pretty plates for the Insta crowd but my poached egg was stone cold and everything had too much lukewarm, bland sauce on, so it was a rather soggy and flavourless affair.
