Typical country side all-in-one type of restaurant/ bar/ tobacco shop/ lottery / newspaper shop.

Expect it to be crowded, especially because they are serving food continuously, in chantilly not every restaurant is opened throughout the day.

Honestly my wife wanted to leave at first. There is some work to do on the welcoming : BUT, it is very crowded when every single other restaurant is closed. We went with the flow, stayed and order. Looking at the prices I was expecting frozen food and premade tartare BUT : the tartare and carbonara were homemade and the salad well balanced.

How do I now ? Well the tartare came in actual tiny pieces of meat cut with a knife and not a shredded piece of meat. My salad which included duck breast, and sun dried tomatoes was perfect.

I really enjoyed the service of the waiter we had. He was in his late 40´ and it was nice to see him actually caring so much for us, diligently, energically, professionally.

This was one of our worst times trying a french restaurant. We went to Chantilly last Saturday and were searching for a inexpensive place to eat. Based on the good reviews here we gave this place a try. It's not even a restaurant, it's a Bar-Tabac that serves food but at that time we were hungry and most of the other restaurants were closed till 19h. The welcoming was very bad and it felt like an exam to order (fast and with no mistales!). The atmosphere isn't relaxing as said in some reviews. The food was average. We struggled to find somewhere for brunch, most places were closed, so we gave this a try. We ordered a toasted cheese and ham sandwich with some chips. It wasn't very tasty and the bread was a little burnt in places, side salad looked limp, chips I'm not sure how to describe but I didn't like them. Even the coffee wasn't great.
