To the owner of this Boulangerie thank you so much for not supporting me as a customer or at least offer your support.
How they treat me as a tourist
On day two we went to buy some pastries, as the previous day we bought some pastries from the same shop. We came back as the pastries were good. We even recommended the place to a few tourists. While we were queuing up on our second occasion there were couple of station staffs behind us, followed by a police woman also queuing to order. As the pastry case was on the side I had to turn to point out which pastry I wanted. The woman who was standing right behind me didn’t like that I turned to point out what I wanted to order. So in my opinion she made out that I stepped on her foot. I firmly believe I didn’t as there was a big backpack on my back and there was a bit of space in between me and the other person. Plus I would obviously have felt my foot hit hers if I did. But even so, if I did, it wasn’t intentional obviously. She said something in French which I didn’t understand as she was too fast. I turned around to explain to her that she was too close to me and I didnt do it on purpose. The police woman then got involved and commented on me hurting the woman’s foot, which was totally wrong as it obviously wasn’t a police matter. Either way I tried to explain to the police woman what exactly happened but she chose to ignore my words and even mock me, making a sign with her fingers and said carry on with your order rudely. Again other station staff be a saying things so fast which I could not pick on straight away. Then the police woman made, which I believe was intended as a very racist comment which was and I quote “they are Indians and that’s how they are” end of quote. I actually understand a bit of french and after hearing this comment I turned around and said to the police woman that’s really racist. She was so rude and totally ignored what I was saying, lifting her hands in the air mocking me again. By now 3 more station staff had arrived and police woman turned around and said to the station staff “would you like me to ticket her?” I just couldn’t believe my ears. Just allegedly stepping on someone’s foot unintentionally she was going to ticket me. The previous day we got robbed by pickpockets and my sisters purse was stollen and nothing was done. But allegedly standing accidentally on someone’s foot apparently is a ticketable offence. Finally carried on with my order trying to get served and get out. The station staff were talking to the owner of this boulangerie and telling her own version. They were all so unprofessional and rude. I felt awkward and upset. Not once they’ve approached me to ask me what happened. The police woman asked the same question again to the station woman about issuing me a ticket. She replied no but she had another station staff colleague stopped me to talk to me who speaks English. The first word he said that I hurt her foot. I explained to him exactly what happened with the incident and that I didn’t understand what the woman said at first as she was too fast. Plus I explained if I did tread on her foot I was sorry. But again the other woman was so rude and aggressive that nothing I said made any impact
To all tourists please aware If you step on someone’s foot accidentally it’s a crime in France and you can get a ticket by the police but if you’re a criminal it’s ok to rob someone because if you’re not caught in the act you’ll get...
Read moreI'm not gonna lie the food was great everything from the sandwiches to the desserts but the customer service was absolutely terrible. If you don't speak French be ready to get a side eye, eye roll or even a noticeable sigh as apparently anyone that doesn't speak French is an inconvenience to the employees or at least that's what it seemed. I understand we are in France, but we are also in a very touristic area so I believe it's irrational to expect every customer to speak French in this area. Would I go again? Yes, but not because I'm a masochist. The food was just...
Read moreThe cashier was very rude she asked if we spoke French?..! But when we said we did not speak French.. She was tutting and holding her head in her hand and had a terrible demeanor towards us. I understand we are in France but there was all different nationalities in the shop.. She did the same to a Spanish man, she could have tried to help. We ended up pointing out what we wanted (which I assumed we would do anyway) it was an upmarket Greggs with terrible service! The food...
