We had a great experience here, and it was easily the best food weâve had in France so far (to be fair, weâve eaten at some mediocre restaurants to fit our budget, so thatâs not fair to the French people!).
I had a combo menu, which was escargots in a puff pastry with spinach to start, chicken done two ways (flank in a white sauce and legs in a brown sauce) over mashed potatoes and vegetables as a main course, with a raspberry and strawberry Mille-feuille for dessert. My husband had the two-plate combo menu, which was lobster and prawns with eggplant tataki to start and a beef tenderloin over mashed potatoes with a nice gravy on top. It was SO delicious. We were able to see the menu in English from a QR code and the waiter spoke perfect English (and complimented our pitiful attempts at French - thank you for being patient!) so it was easy to know what everything was. I had a glass of wine with the meal and it complimented the meal perfectly. Altogether we spent about âŹ90 for a great meal, including a tip. Great service and amazing food, Iâd recommend this place to anyone...
Read moreWe came here after reading the reviews and I have to say it really isnât worth the stars it gets. There is nothing bad about this place, itâs just very average at best. We were given some complementary bread and rillette (I think), which was tasty. I ordered the lamb and it had very little taste - there was no seasoning to the meat whatsoever. The sauce also lacked any depth of flavour and I struggled to pick out the rosemary flavour. The fish was the same - not bad, but just average and lacked any flavour. The vegetables were cooked well, but overall the it feels like they are trying too hard to make the plates look âfancyâ. Focus on quality food and forget about trying to make the plating cool, itâs passe! For the desert I ordered the Mille Fueille, and maybe I misread the menu but it came with whipped cream in the layers and not crĂšme patisserie as it should. It was nice enough but it didnât need the sorbet as well. What I will say though, is the service was good. The two waiters were...
Read moreAt first unassuming, we actually walked by the first time we saw this restaurant. Then the hotel desk clerk, Michael at The Best Western Central recommended it to us. Within just a couple blocks of our hotel we decided to give it a try. We were more than pleasantly surprised. From the moment we were greeted the service never faltered. Kind and gracious is just the start. Then the food⊠wonderful. Initially we did not know that this is a Michelin rated restaurant. They were not pompous and pretentious at all as some other Michelin rated restaurants we have been (ie, La Toque in Napa Valley). At Le Laurenty the whole experience is excellent. The decor is nice, the music relaxing and just right. The presentation from the nicely chilled water (not typical in France) to the main course and dessert was excellent. All of that and then Lâaddition comes⊠another wonderfully pleasant surprise. When you come to Tours France you must absolutely enjoy at least...
