Brasserie Le Continental — Restaurant in Valence

Friendly, professional, fast, fast, at a great location, with delicious food and drinks. This place offered it all together.

We, a couple, had an hour and something to fill between our connecting trains. We decided that, it being lunch time, a nice something to eat and maybe a glass of wine would be a good way to make the most of the spare time. Although I was intentionally hesitant to go to this particular place based on experience -grown prejudice("only" a 3.6 star score, right at the tourist-trap spot across the station square), the low price indication and the good looking terrace and the lack of motivation to do a lot of walking around lured us in.

We immediately were friendly greeted by the waitress, given a small and clear menu, were helped in English when our sub-par french lacked the necessary quality for conversation. The service kept being a beautiful balance between friendly and efficient. The speed was, for someone used to the Dutch tempo, astonishing.

The "basic" house wine (white) was a bliss on this warm summer day. Not a trace of sourness or headache. A bottle of cool tap water was available on the table at all times. And the food was wonderful. We had each one kind of the available ravioli gratin. It was more than tasteful, not too fat, not too much or too little. Not bland. Rightly salted. Simply a pleasure to eat. The dish was accompanied by a respectable amount of greenery and fresh bread, just in case you felt like having something extra. Halfway through a sharp young man took over the lovely waitress and took care of us having everything we needed untill we left. Both of our waiters had "eyes in the back of their heads", as they always knew when we wanted something before we barely even raised a hand to wave.

The final treat was the very decent price of the bill that we requested together with a delicious french coffee. In conclusion, I think that although there might be even cheaper places, or places with a more extensive menu, I think that there are very few that combine all elements together in one, from our point of view, perfect experience.

Mon tgv ayant 1h15 de retard je decide d'aller au continental, car cest là que 31 plus tot jai rencontré mon mari. Mes deux enfants m'accompagnent, mqis decident decnecrien prendre car ims viennent de dejeuner copieusement. Une seeveuse souriante prend ma commande. Quelques instants p'us tard un serveur (le responsable ?) vient vers nous et nous dit qu'on ne peut pas boire un café à 3. Je lui demande si mes enfants doivent m'attendre debout p'us loin. Il n'en demird pas. La terrasse est quasiment vide, il n'est que 7h30 du matin. Je reste polie et nous decidons d'aller boire ailleurs. Je conseille le cafe d'en face Alix café, accueil...
